The downside is apparent to anyone that has ever tripped over the standard TT tongue already. Perhaps a telescoping, dismounting or folding tongue would work.

The tongue on my Trailmanor pivots sideways, making it 2 feet shorter when I park it in the garage. This allowed me to get the next to smallest Trailmanor and still park it in the garage. The extra length gave us a queen bed instead of a double bed and more storage space.

The swing away tongue is a factory option. There is also after market modifications.

However, the length of the tongue on my trailer is not extra long, it is just the normal length.
