Great job, I really like it! As I have basically the same camper I think I'm going to do that too. I may look into a way to also quickly convert back to a bed if needed to, but for now I need the space a lot more than I need the extra bunk.

My batteries are in the compartment you removed, where are your batteries? I've been thinking of a similar mod, but installing a more couch-like seating arrangement. I find the "seats" in my dinette to be more torture devices. Did you build any way to get the sleeping space back that you lost from not having the table and supports at the end to hold up the cushions in "sleeping configuration"?

My battery compartment is not in that location. It is on the driver side behind the wet bath. Agree with you about the dinette settings. I can't stand it when I go camping so I am always outside. Now with more room I can do a lot inside with the folding table. I am still modifying the sleeping space to make a bit wider by installing a pull out board. I will post pictures when its done.

I love it. We have the 915 and I have been trying to think of a way to get more "floor" space. What's even better is the wife likes it too.

Hey, kinda' looks like a Northstar now!
Actually, really nice job. Nice to see someone plan it out and have a great looking finished product.
Seriously though, the bolt-upright, face-to-face seating of our first TC (Adventurer) is what steered us toward the N* when we purchased our second. The 7' wide Northstar 850SC felt more comfortable and roomy than our 8' wide Adventurer.
Thanks for the before and after.

When my wife and I saw this mod we knew we had to do it to our 915. Well today I got at it. My part is done. Now Rita has to mod the cushions and we are good to go! Thanks again for the info.

Let us know if looking at the inside of the camper gets old.
I've thought about doing a mod like yours on our camper. But we love sitting face to face at the dinette and looking out the large side window. View from the window is how we chose many camp sites.

Virgil and W2bpi, When you did this mod would you be able to put it back to factory, I mean put the U back in like factory? I think we would really like this mod too for our 118 lb German shepard, but I worry about trade in value or condition with so radical a change.

I am 69 years old and have no plans to trade this unit in. No I could not easily return it to its original condition. When I am gone the kids will just sell it as is. Have a great day! George

Agree. No going back and never regretted what I did. I am not finish on my mods yet hopefully it will add a face value if done correctly. I have some more mods to do and post it here when all said and done.
