Is there anyone out there that can give me a straight answer as to if a 1996 - 2000 Chevy Cavailer with automatic transmission is towable with all 4 wheels on the ground. Everywhere I turn I get a different answer. Has anyone had experience using the cavailer as a toad?
Thanks.

According to Motor Home Magazine, a 2000 Cavalier is towable with an automatic transmission. It must have the 4T40-E or 4T45-E automatic transaxle and there is a speed/distance limitation of 55 MPG/200 miles.

we tow a 2003 Cavalier 4 down no problems. You need to check the owners manual if you can for towing instructions. fred

I assume that is every 200 miles you have to start it up and circulate the tranny fluid a bit?

Thanks everyone for the feeback on the cavalier as a toad. I couldn't find anything older than 2002 in Motorhome mag, Remco says towable as is as long as it is the 4T40E or another similar model. When I called a chevy dealer and asked the service manager said absolutely not. The 4T40E will be toast after 35 miles. I'm looknig for a 96 - 99 cavalier convertible. I had a 93 sunbird convertible before and used a tow dolley. I'd like to not have to fool with the dolley any more when I find my cav convertible.
Thanks again everyone. apowell49

I "sub searched" the posts in the above link and found these:

Cavalier posts with 2000 in them.
