I had one of these installed this week and had a std non HD Dirct TV box hooked up to it. It works great, but does anyone have these units hooked up to a Direct TV DVR recorder and if so, how do did you hook up the cables using a distribution box ie; the box that allows you to pick which tv and what type imput. The DVR box has only one coax male plug on it and reqtuires rca cables for the out to TV part. The cables from the Trav Ler Slim Line has two coax lines. How do I convert rca to coax and then hook up to distribution box? Hope I explained this ok. Thanks

Which Direct DVR do you have? If it is HD and you got it directly from Direct it is probably a HR-21-700 or if you got it at Costco, Sams, Best Buy etc it might be a HR-22. In either case it should have two INput coax lines and you put the 2 cable inputs from the Slim Line (I assume this is the Slim Line 5 and NOT the slim line 3--correct?). on these input stubs. You do NOT need to use RCA cables to connect to your tv's you can use a coax line. If you want to distribute to two different TV's you can use an "a/B" switch. You would hook up the A/B switch as follows: from the "out to TV" connection (for coax) on the back of the DVR box put a length of coax and then hook it to the in portion of the A/B switch. then you will have two 'out' portions on the A/B switch and you hook up the two tvs to those connections. then you simply use A or B to direct the siganl to either TV 1 or TV 2. You can even use a A/B/C switch if you want to send the signal to three tvs. If your DVR is an 'R' series, like R-15--then it is not an HD DVR and won't be capable of handling HD service.

The HR 22 I have has only one coax male nipple for satellite in, there is no other coax male nipple for tv. Not sure how to go forward with making the connection. I am ok on the ab thing. Thanks for your reply and help.

If it's HD, I would connect the box to the TV with an HDMI cable

Sorry, I was talking about inputs. Senior moment !! My HR-22 has 2 inputs that allows you to record 2 different channels but has no output. For some reason Direct TV has not provided a cable out to TV like the older units. My older unit had a cable out to TV and that way I used the cable out to the TV in the bedroom and used the composite cables to the main TV. If my older unit didn't die on me I would still have it just for the cable to TV jack. By the way, got mine at Best Buy also.

Stude55Dog you need a RF Modulator that will give you a cable output.
