Lake Wales Campground. Hwy 27, 3.5 miles south of 60. We are next door at Campnaire which is a nice park. We are a 55+ park and usually don't take overnighters but you could try. By then some might be going home.
River Ranch I think is in Lake Wales if not close it is a ownership CG but they rent sites. I,m not sure what their website is but the sites are beautiful

thanx everyone for replying. we have decided to stay at camp mack rv park on camp mack road, in lake wales. they have air boat rides and we have not done that. also hope to go to a braves game on one day. we belong to a group called narcoa at www.narcoa.org which is a railroad motorcar group and we will be riding in our railroad motorcars on friday near the old train station in lake whales south to the end of the line and return on friday morning. set on for us is around 8 am. if you want to see something you have never seen, come by and visit with us. we are also riding from winter garden to the leesburg area and return on sat, and on sunday riding out of ocala.
opps forgot dates. we will be leaving lake wales in our little railroad motorcars on friday, march 13, 2009. which i could offer rides but we are kinda small. www.narcoa.org bobby
Hi Bobby....I am probably way out of order in this posting but I feel compelled to offer to help make your time in the Lake Wales Area a happy time.
We lived "out east" of Lake Wales city very near to Boy Scout Road and Camp Mack. The Camp Ground itself is well laid out and has good sites. Cement Pads, etc. It is basicly a Fishing Camp and is WAY out of Town. If you have run it on a Map Program and know where it is in relation to the Railroad Station then no problem. Just didn't want you to suddenly find yourselves way out in the Boonies.
Good Luck in your visit to the area and enjoy yourselves. I ran your site and you have an exciting hobby. We are in the Kissimmee/Orlando/Clermont Area all Winter and might try to catch a look at the railway cars the week-end you all are down here.
