Hey , I have a question on my 2001 Sprinter. I have 12 volts coming out of the truck ,but it doesn't charge the battery. Is there a fuse some where ???? I put a charged battery in the trailer and checked for 12 volts at the 7 wire plug in and there was none.
I checked the fuses in the power panel with the charged battery and they were good.
With the truck plugged in and a low battery in the trailer no power to the panel.
Thanks,
Rotton Rob

Here is a link to wiring diagram for both truck and trailer ends. You should get a 12 volt reading from more than one pin in the plug.
Your problem could be a bad ground or a fuse problem in either the truck or trailer. Many trucks have seperate fuses for various systems on the trailer.
I've had a couple different problems (same trailer, different trucks):
06 Nissan Titan - Lost running lights, tail lights and charging still worked. It was a fuse in the truck.
08 F250 - Lost tail lights, running lights and charging still worked. Again, it was a fuse in the truck.
I would look for a fuse in the battery compartment or close to it. I suspect you blew this fuse, it is usually a green fuse 30 amps. This fuse will be on the positive wire leading from the battery to the converter. Good luck!

Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. I don't know about the Dodge, but GM doesn't hook up the wire that produces the 12V to power up your 7 pin plug. On GM trucks you have a seperate wire with a loop end that you have to hook up to a stud in the fuse box. This wire is connected to a 40amp fuse in the box under the hood. I just worked on this very thing a day ago on my truck. I thought I was putting power to my trailer but a test light showed different. MY truck has an integrated brake box, so I guess it doesn't matter if they think you will tow with it or not.

Sounds like you have a bad CB. Probably up front near the battery on the trailer there should be something like is shown below and if it's wired like my trailer you won't see power from the trailer battery at the trailer 7pin connector and unless you're plugged into 110V power you won't have battery power to the trailer ckts either.
My CBs were mounted to the floor right behind the A-frame. Those in that pic were only after 1 year and I tried to clean them up, but broke both so I just replaced them. Mine are in a terrible location for weather protection. Almost any Auto Parts store will have 10, 20, 30 and 40 amp models and you want the auto resetting type.
I smeared the 3M electrical scotchkote on my new ones ...
Rotten Rob and glazier: Rob, glazier is correct as far as GM not hooking the 12V battery feed wire. I bought a 2009 Chevy DurMax and this is what the "Owners Manual" states under "Heavy Duty Trailer Wiring Harness Package"; "The fuses for the * (*Red: Battery Feed and *Dark Blue: Trailer Brake) these two circuits are installed in the underhood electrical center, but the wires are not connected." Go figure!
They also advise using the tow/haul switch to boost the vehicle system voltage to charge the remote (non-vehicle ) battery.
How long or hours of engine operation is required to fully charge a TT battery is the question!
