no suprise this close that you cant find an opening. been told sites are usually filled a year in advance unless there is a cancel. Id find another CG, make res, and keep trying to catch a cancel.

Did you call or try online? If online and 1 day of your res is unavailable, it will reject the whole res.
Also they put yeserdays cancellations into their comp for the next day. Call around 8 am et and you might have some luck.
Another trick I learned is if one or two days you want are available, take them and build from there.
You can cancell up to 5 days out, sometimes the closer you get, the luckier you get.

I seem to recall someone earlier on this site talking about successfully piecing together a week at Ft Wilderness by calling and calling. There may have been a recommendation of time of day to call etc. Try a search on here. If you find something else nearby that you can cancel out of without a charge, it might be worth still trying to piece together a week at Disney.

The phone lines open at 7:00AM EST and that is when you should start to call.

When I've been unable to get into Ft. Wilderness, I've made reservations at Tropical Palms. I've never actually stayed there, because I have always gotten into the Fort eventually. Keep trying, and take any day they have available. I've pieced together weeklong reservations, sometimes one day at a time. If you haven't cobbled the entire reservation together 5 days before your start date, you can cancel without a penalty, and even within the 5 days you can modify the reservation without penalty - we've moved reservations to next year without a problem. Especially in this economy, I can see people who have reservations for spring break cancelling because their situations have changed.

Make your backup reservations of course. It is well worth it to stay in the park so keep trying. Free Parking, Extended hours, etc. Many people make reservations early, not all make it though. We did a 7 day advance call this year and there were plenty of sites, over MLK weekend and following week. 2008 they were packed full during this time and no weekend sites, this year there were sites open the whole time. I was surprised how busy it still was also, WDW claimed to be off only 10% from 2008 numbers during this time. The p-lots were still quite full, people seemed to be off-site.
