We call them chuck boxes in Boy Scouts. Each patrol has their own and are responsible for maintaining them. There are a number of different styles and sizes so you may want to do a search on them. Since we primative camp 99% of the time they are also used to carry all the pots, pans and cook stove. Ours are pretty large; not sure you are looking for something that large. The link above provides some good idea but use your imagination based on your specific needs.

A footlocker or a plastic bin may do the trick as well
I have seen many variations over the years. We call them Patrol Boxes up here.
A web search through scouting websites will yield many plans

When I tent camp I use a compact coupe.
So far I have my kitchen packed into three gate mouth bags. Not perfect, but maybe the best I can come up with.
If I take a trailer I take my teardrop, which solves the food / cooking gear problem.

I bought the camp kitchen shelf at this url from K-Mart.

I think Cabelas has a similar one. Camp stove goes on top. I transport my cooking stuff (pots, pans, firestarters, Lodge gloves, tablecloths, etc.) in a large Rubbermaid tote, and some of that is unloaded onto the camp kitchen shelves. The bottom shelf on the camp kitchen holds a couple Sterilite drawers filled with utensils, paper products, canned goods and the like. I have another table where I set up wash basins for doing dishes.

in my tent? Sure hope you don't camp in cougar or bear country! That's a recipe in our parts for "disaster"! ;-)
