Why isn't it "wise to run refrig on propane when moving"?
The propane system in an RV is designed, built, tested and certified to be run while in motion so we do, but then I only have 52 years RV'ing experience to back this up.

I am not sure there are "NO WORRIES"..

For me the most obvious one is if the propane is on while refueling and before anyone says their propane is on the opposite side of the fuel fill, how about if someone else pulls in beside you and causes a problem?

What if there is a collision? Why do you think certain tunnels/ bridges require propane to be off?
If the refrigerator door is kept closed while traveling; the stuff inside is just fine.

Heat is another issue but my MH can heat the entire inside from the engine.

Ron - know you are a new member and full of questions and all, but to be realistic give some thought to this.

Is it ok to burn gasoline while driving down the road?
Is it ok to burn diesel fuel while driving down the road?
Is it ok to flip your "bic" lighter while driving down the road?
Is it ok to strike your zippo lighter while driving down the road?

If the answer to the above questions is "yes" - then I would ask you; what is the difference between the above and propane?

Honestly though - the appliances are designed and built for a specific purpose and are safe enough to use. The only "wild card" in this is us humans - we can screw up anything and make them "unsafe".

Enjoy your rig and travels ----

God Bless

If there is a collision, you still have the propane tanks onboard. If there were as many worries as you think then why would you not leave the propane tanks home? The propane tanks and use of propane is no more hazardous than the gas tank and using the gasoline while travelling down the road. The propane is probaly safer than the gasoline as the propane tanks are better built and have safety shutoffs built in them. Yout gasoline tank has no such safety items.
I always run with the propane on. I shut the propane off when fueling and on the West coast we don't have any tunnels to worry about. The main concern with tunnels is that they are usually lower than any surrounding land and propane whe vented will go to the lowest point being heavier than air and if ignited in a tunnel it could cause an explosion, which would also be almost the same danger if you had a gas tank rupture in the same tunnel.
