I recently purchased 2 6 volt batteries and was all excited about getting the old ones out and the new ones in. I have a 2001 Damon Intruder and they are under the step but too big to lift straight up.
So had to slide them forward and lower them to the ground with a rope.
Next came installing the batteries. This is a 2 man job. I had one of the local mechanics do it and he said it was a heck of a job.
First I take out the first step to gain access to my batteries, then I make sure all the power is off, disconnect the negitive cable first, then the positive, unbolt the hold down clamps, lift the batteries out, reverse the procedure to install. My batteries are 12 volts. I am thinking of switching to 6 volt batteries myself. $79 apiece at Sams club.

Unlock the battery compartment, slide the roller mounted tray out, disconnect the cables, remove batteries, reverse procedure to install new ones. Just haven't had to do it yet as the Interstate U-2200's are only 7 years old.
I'm sorry, but am I missing something here? I recently changed out all six batteries in my golf cart which is really reaching down, lifting straight up, over and out. The two under the step of my coach has to be a piece of cake, by comparison. I am at the ripe young age of 69yrs and 5' 4" tall, though. I just don't get it, so you may want to explain further. I mean how much can one six volt battery weigh?

Exactly how I did it 6 months ago. Just be sure to note ALL the wires that attach to the batteries. I had one that I did not document. I figured it out, but it had me concerned for about an hour.
I also took mine into the battery store (Interstate) when I bought the new ones to avoid the core charge.

Just changed out the batteries on my 03 Intruder. Due to Damons engineering you can't lift them out. They don't fit through the step opening. You have to slide them out toward the back of the coach & then drop down about 2 feet & reverse the process in. It is a very hard job!! My local dealer charges $50 per battery and after doing the job with the DWs help I understand why. Another big + for the Damon designers
