just do most of us here a favor and post your camping schedule so that we dont risk the chance of running into you.......with all the negativity in the world today the last thing most good people need is more negativity while their camping.........regardless of what they camp in and who it was made by, everyone is entitled to their opinions but yours are way to negative........this will be my last response to your responses. To everyone else here hope to see you somewhere down the road, Mouse enjoy your negativity man!
Nope, not negative, just a REALIST (reality is something that most people just can't handle though, so they try to put on rose colored glasses and delude themselves).
Actually, you'd like me when I'm camping, I'm quite happy then. That's MY escape from reality.
I am disappointed that R-Vision has failed - we got the opportunity with our camping club to tour the R-Vision plant two years ago and the workers were conscientious and hard working when we were going through the plant. They made a decent wage and appeared to work hard.
We had our eyes on one of the V-Nose Trail-Bays and are sad now that we won't get the chance to get one. We could only hope that the original owners of R-Vision could somehow purchase the R-Vision brand back from Monaco and resurrect the company in it's original form.
It's a shame all those people are out of work now and the company they built is gone.
I am sorry to see R Vision close. Actually R Vision was the company who created the hybrid. I was happy to have owned one, a Bantam. Actually, I have owned two TL trailers and I had very minor problems and would recommend them.
As for Mouse, I certainly don't agree with his assessment of R Vision trailers but to each his own. Generally, I find his posts to be informative and helpful. In fact, he has helped me in the past with my setup when I towed with a Jeep Liberty.
Yes, the economy is in the dumps and people are unemployed, that doesn't make me a monster because I say "Look, the sky is blue". Completely different topics.
But since you want to talk about the "poor unemployed workers" (which I wasn't talking about), let's go there. If a company who produces a product with shoddy workmanship goes out of business, at least HALF of the blame goes to those employees who PRODUCED that shoddy product. So I can't feel TOO sorry for them. The Company is responsible for shoddy materials, the WORKER is responsible for shoddy craftsmanship (I use that term VERY loosely).
Why do I feel this way? Well let me tell you...
I'm a government worker (people thinking, oh well DUH, he's a government worker, he must be LAZY! Right? That's the stereotype.), and I BUST MY BUTT working nights after I get home, weekends, etc that I DON'T get paid for because the job HAS to get done. Why do I have to do this? Because the government DOES in fact have an abundance of blood sucking slugs leaching off your tax dollars, and SOMEONE has to actually do the work. How would YOU feel if you busted you butt every day while watching your co-working sitting around like fat cows chewing thier cud?
So EXCUUUUUSE me if I don't have much sympathy for lazy workers losing their jobs.
Now as for R-Vision owners who think I am "opinionated"...
I walked into an R-Vision unit on the dealer's lot. Found the workmanship to be APPALLING. How is it MY problem that I was smart enough to pass up this unit and you weren't?
And yes, I find the quality of ALL RVs except a very expensive few to be unacceptable. Just because I EXPECT higher standards that the rest of you again doesn't make me the bad person. Heck, I bought one of those pieces of krap just like the rest of you. When the REST of you decide to make a fuss like I do, maybe they will get the hint. Until then, the manufacturers turn out junk and laugh all the way to the bank.
So where did I get this opinion of RV quality? Well, I worked in the marine industry (a closely related industry) long enough to see that even the cheapest quality boat was WAY above the quality of even the BEST RVs.
I have something called PRIDE in my work, something as rare these days as common courtesy in the campground. If that makes me a monster, well then I am damned PROUD to be a monster! Apparently this quality is a sin in your books.
So before you condemn, maybe you should think that there just might be valid reasons behind someones opinion.
appause is needed here....in these times customer service is A#1 thing.sad is it may be about there jobs .Don,t kill the messenger. And a shake out needed.
The problem when these smaller comapnies go out of business is that there become less competition for the ones that are left thus threatening quality and prices/value.
In a free market place it takes all levels-- i.e. low price/quality, mid price with good value, and high line/luxury.
R-Vision was a low price line- with the low price you have to give up something.
This does not mean the units are crap, just a lower level than other mid to high lines.
When we bought the Travelstar in '03 we looked at the R-Vision. The workmanship seemed fine, the unit was a very close 2nd to the Travelstar- infact the only reason we chose the Travelstar was a sit down tub compared to the shower stall in the R-Vision (We have small children who prefer baths).
I empathise with the workers who are being laid off, it is a very difficult economy that unfortunately will touch all before turning around.

Regarding R-Vision...don't know anything about it, but I've been an impromptu QA mgr. and Co. Director. Perception is everything...every sub-par performing employee I've ever had the displeasure to manage always has a high opinion of themself, never owned or managed a business or employees successfully and 80% of the time did the least possible effort to maintain their jobs. I even find this in employee owned or profit-sharing companies. Most people want an easy ride thru life. The rest of us carry these whining deadbeats on our backs thru life. Oh yeah, they always think they should get paid more too!
R-Vision - there is so much involved in running a business...you can have the best quality product/service around but if your business isn't run soundly it'll be run into the ground.
Ok I'm totally not here to *****, but it's the old 80/20 rule 80% "get-by" while the rest of us bust our butt to make the best of every scenario. The problem with the 80% is that they can't know what they don't know or refuse to face reality (reject improvement when presented with constructive criticism, training and mentoring). Most often the "lightbulb" will never come-on in their lifetime as their are too ignorant or lazy to make a difference. Oh how this makes the world go around painfully!
Ya it sucks to become unemployed whether you're a great worker or not, college educated or not, esp. when the economy is in shambles...
I've down-sized twice, sold my 3 acres of lakeshore and whatnot to make sure we are financially sound in any economy. The USA has been living an illusion...the land of excess! Quit watching some of those tv shows and stay out of the store and you won't be tempted or brainwashed to NEED things all the time!
Perhaps society will learn the difference btwn want and need (need & greed) I won't hold my breath... as you should have seen the stupid questions and desires of folks on Oprah today! Go online and look at her webpage. This is the exact kind of idiodic thinking that helped our society into this financial mess!!! OMG I'm almost embarrassed to be an American...The majority of America needs to take Personal Finance 101!!!!! Ex from Oprah: Duh you can't have a $25-$50k fantasy wedding when you only have $130 bucks leftover after expenses each month + the debtload you carry that you're probably only making minimum payments on!!!! BTW: Lose the dumb "B" fiance who hid her "real debt"...at this point it's very likely she will ever change! She's the type that appearances and "things" mean more than anything. Gosh we're raising a society of women that have no idea or interest in being fiscally responsible, it's all about looking like a moviestar/model and keeping up or beating the Jones' material assets. What about the clueless teens who both want to go to private colleges at $40k+ a year? How selfish and self-absorbed can you be to want to put your parents in the situation where they can't afford to retire until they are 80? Yes 80! Talk about disrespectful!
Greed has overrun our society. Read Ms. Orman's book and appply it you people with no common sense! "Gee I can't afford it, but I want it...so I'll deny what the ramifications are and buy it" Sorry for the rant...I haven't been invited to Oprah yet to give my version of the "wake-up call"

This thread has become a lot more than a discussion of R-Vision's expiration, but after marychrissmith's 'rant', and Mousefart's explanation (I support both of your opinions and tend to agree more than disagree with both of them, BTW), I think it's time that the discussion be brought back to HTT's before it's locked up for good...
Times are a changin' and we won't be back to the glory days, if that's what you call them (I sure didn't) anytime soon...
