For some reason this reminds me of the old story of the 2nd Lieutenant stopping the Airman in the restroom at the local base. The Lieutenant tells the Airman that in Officer's Training School they were taught to wash their hands after using the restroom. To which the Airman replied, "Yes Sir, however in boot camp they taught us not to P-e all over our hands."
Sorry, sometimes my memory brings stuff like this up. Still trying to learn how to control it.....

I wear one glove.

One hand protected while handling the 'dirty' stuff, and one hand free to handle the 'not dirty' stuff.

Gloves??? Ever have to pour some diesel fuel into a 55 gal drum, cut in half, full of the stuff and light it - then stand over it and stir it while it was burning? Breathing that in sure gets you going in the morning. To bad you weren't in my Army!

I was waiting to dump the tanks in my rental RV today after the Nascar race in Las vegas and the 2 RV's in front of me......well neither of them wore any gloves while dumping.......what a way to start the morning...having to watch that....LOL

i work as a firefighter/EMT. we learn to use PPE(personal protection equipment). i have to work with injured/sick people that have MRSA, hepatitis C, AIDS, and so on. i know when you really need to wear gloves.
but to consider someone is weird or wacky for dumping a black tank without gloves, is taking the whole "dirty" thing a little to far.
it's just poo/pee water. so what if you get a little on your hands. you've got a faucet right there.
too much is made about "black" tanks as if they carry the Bubonic Plague.
i work around a lot of yucky things so a little black water isn't going to freak me out.

I use gloves and one time I was dumping and a yellow jacket bit me just above the rubber glove. Apparently he was in the sewer water and my right arm swelled up tight as a drum the next day. I had to go to ER to get a shot. sometimes you just can't win, rubber gloves or not.

I only recently started wearing gloves when I am working with the black tank.

When I do/did not wear gloves I always know not to bite my fingernails

Every time I go potty, I put latex gloves on before I wipe myself. I did put on gloves the first time I dumped my tanks. of course now that I use a sewer solution or macerator pump, it is so clean that gloves aren't needed.
