well he said sales are up, not Class A, high end sales are up. Towables aren't as bad off. also no mention of used vs new in that "sales are up" number. Stats are how you spin them. I work for a Tech manufacturer. I always say "My competition and I are all #1" - some days I"m number one on Tuesday at 11AM somedays market overall. All in how you present
Still if this article makes some folks get off the couch and buy we're all better off.

I was looking at Lazy Days site and the Tiffins are showing "sales pending" on most all of the Bus and Zephyrs. If this is true Tiffin may be doing most of their (LD) sales. I did notice that not many Monaco products were listed "sales pending" and the inventory of Itasca and Winne were down from the past. Just an observation not hard facts. We are going to attend a RV show this weekend in Jacksonville Fla. and I should be able to see firsthand what the traffic and sold units look like.

We went to the Birmingham RV show last weekend and I was disappointed. There were only a few mainly lower end class A's that were displayed. Tiffin was not there!!! There were just a handful of "accessory" vendors, mainly videos, rv clubs, campgrounds, and a waterless cooking set demo.
They mainly had pop-ups, tear-drops, TT and 5th wheels in the low to medium price range $8000-180000. Quite a few had a "SOLD" sticker on them.

I bought my MH from Beckleys. They've had the same Newmars sitting on their lot for quite a while.
They must be selling a lot of popups, 5th wheels and TTs.

Camping is the best way to get away from watching our investments go down the the tubes. As soon as the credit market stabilizes people will be able to buy what they can AFFORD and the big class A DP market will be much smaller than in years past. Manufactures will adapt to the future RV market or fail as they are not going to get federal bail out money like the auto, banking and AIG.

The Dallas supershow was packed. I don't know any numbers, but there was lots of activity and plenty of sold signs.
What I saw "sold" were smaller gas A's, TT's, some 5ers, popups and hybrids. I recall seeing only one sold sign on a DP. Lots of '08 models, but nothing really heavily discounted like I expected. The Class B's were getting lots of attention, but I didn't see any sold signs on them either. I think because of the price, which can get you a small A. The new Damon that claims 15mpg was there as well, but it had a tag of $127,000. Can buy a DP for that. It looked like an older A inside with the loooooooooong dashboard and the dropdown bed over the captains chairs.
Some makes weren't represented at all. Rather sad..
Overall, a depressing show if you went to see DP's, but we remember those from 5 years ago when you had to wait for the crowds in the aisle.
Cheers...

We went to the RV show in Syracuse, NY last night. It's a pretty small show, featuring mostly TT's with just a few MH's (the fall show normally has a lot of MH's). There sure were a lot of locked trailers with sold signs on them. I asked a few of the salespeople how the show was going and the answers ranged from "not bad, not bad at all" to "earlier today we were writing them up as fast as we could get to people".
The attitudes certainly were positive - and we all know attitude is everything. Maybe if Washinton would display the same attitude we'd start on the road to recovery; as it is it sure seems every time Washington speaks lately the stock market drops another 100 points.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

Update from Jacksonville RV show. The attendence was very high it was a beautiful Sat.. Sold signs on the first day of the show were popping up on some TT,FW and MH. The number of TT and FW was a significant part of the show. However Newmar, Tiffin, Winne/Itasca,Born Free all had a showing of Class A ,C and B units on display. This is typically a small show and this one was about average. There was no Monaco products other than a few from Camping World. I talked to several people who were shopping to upgrade to a diesel mh and others who were first time buyers looking forward to retirement and traveling.
