Ok sorry but time to pic brains once again..After all the comments from before, I guess JAYCO it is..We really like the look of the 345bhds. Any thoughts? They are very hard to find to do a walk through.

I have been up close and personal with the 345bhs on several occasions. That is an awesome 5er! My kids just love the privacy of the bunk room including an escape hatch!
But I'm done with bunkhouse models, I'm keeping what I have until a couple of kids move on then I'll be getting something more couple oriented.
That's a great rig! Have fun!

We had narrowed our choices down to the Jayco 345BHS or the Heartland 3490BHS. Both florplans are nearly identical but the Jayco is a little over two feet longer-that was really our only concern with the Jayco. This being our first RV and going THAT big. Also worried we would not "fit" at some of the places we wanted to go. Sunday we went to look at both models again (for the third time). We were leaning towards the Jayco, but it SOLD! Looks like it's gonna be the Heartland if we take the plunge. Things I liked better in the Jayco were the J-Cube instead of the Jack-knife sofa bed (more comfortable and two kids can sleep there vs. only one on the jack-knife), Pull-out rack in the back for bikes, firewood, etc..., the little half door at the back of the bunk room-helpful for loading, the counter surfaces (the Heatland also has the laminated countertop, but I don't like the wood trim at the edge-worry about water getting between the counter top and wood molding), and the electric awning with rain sensor. It's a very nice unit when compared to other bunk house models, but again, I'm going by what we saw and not having owned one (yet).

It is a sweet coach I had to get the liter brother of that one do to the wight but I believe if your truck can handle it it will be the right one for you. mine is in the signature. The truck in your signature is not the one you will be using is it?

I agree with Bob975...
5vers drop from 12% to 15% of the trailer weight in the back of the truck. 1/2 ton is a bit light for most 5vers. I see some using a 1/2 and they get by... but if you're looking at anything over 26 feet... you should consider the stress it's going to put on your truck.
Enjoy your travels... and one way of doing that is to be safe.

Thanks all...I am helping a friend buy his first RV thats what my question was based for. I have a 29bhs and am very happy with it, plus I can't afford to trade up this soon. My friend has no idea on RV's so this is where you folks come in. Thanks again and I will pass it all on to him and we will see what happens. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!

For another option, check out the Bristol Bay 3420. I looked very hard at the Jayco in both the 345 and the 355 Bunkhouse models, then looked at the Bristol Bay 3420. The DW would not let me leave until I agreed to get the Bristol Bay. The bunk room is a really big hit with the kids too. Which ever model you/your friend decides on, be sure and get the free standing dinette. It is well worth the money.

Before you take the "plunge" check out the Durando 355BHS, this is by K-Z. I looked at the Jayco 345BHS, but we liked the bunkhouse arrangement better on the Durango. Any whay what ever way you go, just be sure to use it, or it isn't worth the investment.
