After nearly 2 years of research and countless posts on here, we took delivery today of our Jayfeather 29A. It was raining pretty hard when we began the PDI, and guess what, I found a leak right of the bat! Not really a major issue, as the leak was quickly identified. One of the vents under the awning wasn't sealed, and water was leaking in. In a way, I'm glad it was raining today, because I would have been STEAMED if I hadn't found it until our first trip.

The PDI went well until we got to the hitching part of it. First of all, the hitch wasn't what I was expecting. Instead of the EQ 4-point system that I "thought" I was getting, they installed an EAZ hitch with 600lb w/d bars and sway control. During negotiation of the TT, I got them to throw in the hitch, but I didn't get them to commit to the Equalizer hitch. Shame on me. The EAZ seemed to work OK, but I have nothing to compare my experience to. We towed it home over Tiger Mountain (1600' elevation), and while there was some "bobbing" going on, my truck maintained 55-60mph going up the mountain, albeit at 3400RPM's. Still, can't expect much better than that with a 1/2 ton. The Prodigy brake controller worked very well, although I'm concerned that it's continuing to draw power even when my truck is turned off and the trailer is unhooked. There's one little red light that won't go out, so I assume it's drawing current. I guess I can always unhook it.

My overall impressions are that it's going to take a while to get good with hitching and unhitching the rig. This took a lot more time than I expected, and it was a lot of work. We had to back it into our storage lot space between 2 other trailers, so that was harrowing to say the least. I had to pull out and readjust at least 4 times, but so be it. We didn't hit anything. I'll post a couple of pics as soon as I figure out how!

Don't worry about the prodigy....It lights up with one or two little "dots" depending on your settings. It will do so even with no trailer hooked up. It will go out after about 15 minutes of no contact with the brake pedal and come back on when the brake pedal is pressed. It display -c- instead of dotts when the trailer is hooked up. Enjoy!

P.S. My first thought when I saw our trailer hooked up to the truck was "oh crap...what did I get myself into!" but then it got easier when you realize the longer the easier!

After our pdi went in the showroom for lunch while they hooked up the hitch and swaybars and all. Then we went outside to see the whole rig tt and tv hooked up and I did the samething,oh******that thing is sooooo loooooong. How in the heck am I going to get this thing backed in,and this comming from an avid boat and boat mechanic of 20+ years of backing larger boats and my own boats.I had to take several stabbs at it but it will come easier for you.Just have eyes in the back watching you at all times. My camper is 37' overall and pull with a expedition el.Don't be afraid of it but just become one with the rig and have a great time.....

As an owner of the prodigy brake controller, do not worry about the current draw. As stated before, the light will shut off after about 10 - 15 minutes after the truck is shut off.

HAPPY CAMPING and Welcome to the Jayco TT Family. I hope your long and exhaustive research pays off.

Congrats on your new trailer! Prodigy controller is an excellent choice. Hooking up and unhooking will become second nature before you know it you'll be surprised how efficient you become. The bounce I sometimes felt when pulling our trailer truly disappeared after adding Firestone Ride Rite air bags to the truck.Amazing difference. You'll also want to be sure your WD hitch is actually distributing weight to the front axle of your truck when properly adjusted.
