Trying to decide between the two Yamaha generators. There's only about $100 difference than the two. The 2400iS is 9 lbs heavier and uses more fuel but is quieter. (59 db vs 67 db). Both are brushless inverter models, OHV, Air Cooled, Four Stroke, Single Cylinder, with displacement/HP 171 cc / 5.5 h.p. The 2800 model rated at 23.3 amps vs 2400 model rating of 20 amps. As always, I go for the beefier stuff but wonder if there is some compromise I'm not aware of. Any comparitive info would be appreciated and welcomed. Thanks.

Dave do a search on 2manytoyz post on the YAMAHA 2400. Great reading. I love our 2400. JMO

Another advantage to the 2400 is it, like the Honda's, can be paralleled with another 2400.
And I'll second the sound issue. 67 db versus 59 db, JMHO but you'll live to hate the louder one.
I'm interested in the 2800 as an inverter gen with a bit more power. Anyone have a db reading while running an AC with it? Since it will only be 67db at full output, maybe at "typical" operating power it's as quiet as a 2400?
I have the EF2800I and am satisfied. If I'm running the a/c, I can't run the microwave. Not enough poop. You do have to watch your amp draw. Without the a/c, it will run the whole trailer.
The 2400 sounds like a nice unit, but I want the additional amps.

The 2400 is loud enough for me as it is. It is relatively quiet, but, not as quiet as my idling truck (gasser not diesel).
The 2400 is minimum to run a 13,5k AC and won't run an older 13,5 AC. I like mine and would did not get the 2800 because of it's higher noise rating. Given what I know now about the 2400 I would not get a 2800. If I needed more power I'd go to a 3000, get two Honda 2000's or two 2400's.
The 2400 is plenty for us. It will run the whole trailer without the AC. DO have to watch high current items. Microwave and blow dryer together is a no-no.

I think you will find that there is a BIG difference in 8db. I love my 2400, but still wish that it was a little more quiet. I can sit out side with the 2400 running, without my head pounding. However, At 67db it the noise will be enough to drive you crazy.
Stay away from the 2800. That "small" difference in DB actually translates to TWICE as loud to the human ear!
I couldn't agree more. I have been amazed at the difference. Go quieter but if you need more output then choose the 3000. The 2400 will run AC but not much more at the same time.
