Just made the call. Sonny dosn't work there anymore but the person gave me some hopefully useful info.
One thing I must have missed in the instructions is to run a MINIMUM of 80psi and a max of 120psi. That is more inline with the 90psi I was using. For some reason I thought the max was 100psi.
They recommended moving to the foreward bag location and use more air. That will be my next try.
Sorry to hear he left, he was knowledgeable. I just fill mine to the line looking at it from the tail gate section of the truck. I never even gave a thought to the psi. It works like a charm. Don't know whether he told you or not but there are different size bags, so if you fill it and still have problems you may need a larger bag. My pin weight is a lot heavier then yours, so my setup may be different. Here is a couple of photo's of how mine looks.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but I've read on others posts about the air psi in the bag for 5th AB hitches and how is it that most folks seem to have large amounts of psi in bag and I have so little psi? Yet rides great?

I'm not sure which hole mine is set in but I run about 55 PSI in the bag. I checked it the first time I set it to the "line" and since then I make sure that when hooked up it's to the line. My hitch will move about 1" up and down and it pulls and rides great.

I spoke with the manufacture and was told the LINE is nothing but a guideline to get one started. Our 3670 Bighorn has got some pin weight and we were told to put the bag all the way towards the trailer and start with 80 pounds and adjust to our liking from there.
The numbers seem to be all over the board.
I just installed my 5AB and I have around 2000lbs pin weight. I left the bag in the stock position, 2nd hole from the rear, and have 36lbs of air.
Seems to ride good, but is it suppose to be even better?? If I move the bag I will have to do the air valve mod just to try another position.
Instructions are pretty vague on what happens when you move the bag.
My pin wt is high. I tried the 3 different positions for the air bag and found that the rear position was the only one that would lift the front end to the line on the shock --- and that was with 100 psi.
Hello all !!
I have a 5th Airborne sidewinder on my 37 foot Everest my pin weight is 2300 IBs,im running 120 Ibs and working just fine, being a full timer my pin weight is just a little higher
I have had the 5th Airborne for about 3 years and it did take some adjusting to get the maximum benefit. There are also two different size of shocks as well as air bags. Also, make sure that your trailer is level. CW installed mine and I could not feel any improvement. The nose of the trailer was riding too high and the shock was too stiff (for heavier pin weight). I have a very light pin, so we went with a different airbag and shock and moved the airbag forward. After working with the manufacturer, I repositioned the kingpin box one hole higher so the trailer was more level. I think that Lippert now owns 5th Airborne but they should be able to help you.
