We have camped at Lakewood in the past. Last time it was May of 2004. We were planning on returning to Lakewood but reviews and posts have Lakewood slipping in customer retention for lack of maintenance and upgrades.
We have decided on Ocean Lakes. We have reservations for Site I57 for May 2nd to the 8th. I believe Bike weekend starts on the 8th. Is section I a preferred section or are there better sections/sites?
I Googled mapped oceanlakes on satellite view and I57site appears to be close to beach and fairly wide but not long. Appears to have a 5th wheel on the site in satellite view. We camp in a 36 foot Motorhome with two slides. Anybody out there camp in that section? Any tips on the Ocean Lake experience? Just ME and DW going this trip. All 4 kids have flown the coop.

We have camped at OceanLakes for 20+ years. The I section is located pretty close to the beach and to the 'main' hub of everything.
The 'I' section is not a bad section. We prefer the K section mainly because we go when the temperatures are hotter and you get more shade options there.
I think you will enjoy your stay there. We will be coming in a few weeks after you and can't wait.

The H, I and 2000 sections are pretty much all alike. We usually stay in the I section but have a spot in the H section this year simply because it was the section with a site closest to the beach. If haven't already done so, get the "Express Check In". I think that you still have time for it. They'll mail you your vehicle tag and you simply drive through the security gate-- no stopping at the office to register.
It is a great beach resort.

OL is noce but watch out for the kids on the golf carts. OL is lax on enforcing the rules and SC laws pertaining to carts. I was hit by a 12 year old and SC requires a valid drivers license to use a cart. We still prefer Lakewood...JOHO

We are at OL now. Forgot it is Spring Break....Teens - Golf Cars - Evening Cruising...we are in the HH section (never again) and it is very loud in the evenings (until 11PM). The sections to the north of the observation deck will be better.
