Another recipe I ran across yesterday. Comments at the end are NOT mine. I can't wait to try these. I'm not a big sweet eater, but what's not to like about any of these ingredients...plus, sweet and salty! YUMMY! (I wish the nearest store wasn't 25 miles one way or I'd be trying these today!)

Regards,
Michelle

Pretzel Turtles

20 small mini pretzels
20 chocolate covered caramel candies
20 pecan halves

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Arrange the pretzels in a single layer on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Place one chocolate covered caramel candy on each pretzel. Bake for 4 minutes. While the candy is warm, press a pecan half onto each candy covered pretzel. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

Do yourself a favor and double the recipe. As long as you're going to make them, it doesn't really add much more time and expense, and these were a big hit!

I couldn't find Rolos, but I did find Dove Chocolates w/Caramel. They worked perfectly and are very good (smoother/creamier than Rolos).

I also used the square shaped "Snap" pretzels. The chocolates fit very well on top.

Baked the candies for only 3 min. - more than enough time. I think any longer and you run the risk of the caramel squishing out of the chocolate candy when you place the pecan halves on top. Be gentle or you'll have a mess on your hands, and they'll be sticky and messier to hold when served.

Chill them out in the fridge for 1/2 hr. or so and they should pop right off the parchment paper.

I also pre-toasted the pecans. Toasting/roasting nuts always makes them taste better. Coated the pecan halves with a little melted butter, and baked for 10 - 15 min @ 325 (watch to prevent burning). Let cool, then proceed w/recipe.

Again - something so easy, and they're really popular!

Also, after these are completely cooled, I melt a cup of white chocolate chips with a little Crisco, place it into a zip lock bag cutting a small hole in the corner. I then drizzle it over the turtles. They turn out beautiful.

Hersheys Kisses with caramel filling will work too and 3 minutes might be a bit too long, you only need to soften the chocolate enough to push the pecan in it.

Try other combos too, the white chocolate peppermint kisses were good at Christmas with a cashew or almond.

At Halloween we made some with peanut butter kisses and a piece of candy corn.

I like to use the waffle looking pretzels. I think Snyders makes them. I buy the mini rolos at Walmart. Sometimes after I melt the rolo on the pretzel I press a M & M on top. Kids like the different colours.

Enjoy

The funny part is - I had a list and they were on it.) Okay, when ya think about it, it's not so funny, is it???

I'm glad you like them! Thanks for telling us!

Do you mean these from Purdy's candy stores in western Canada? We have our Turtles here in the U.S., but they can't hold a candle to these Sweet Georgia Browns!!!! OMG - they are to die for!!!

Regards,
Michelle

PS: ON EDIT: Posting this made me HAVE TO go to Purdy's website and order a box of Sweet Georgia Browns...I haven't had any in several years. Got a box of Hedgehogs, too.
