I have talked to several that say in their ads or web sites that they do truing, but after talking to them they haven't done it in years. Emailed a couple and got no response. I am in S texas so if anyone knows of a shop please let me know. Goodyear replaced one of my G670s and it is out of round, goodyear does not want to talk about it so it's either get it trued or buy two new michelins.

The problem with truing is that it costs money and you never really know if it helps anything. Theoretically it should extend tire life, but theoretically a bumble bee can't fly.

When I got new Michelins from Les Schwab in Oregon about two years ago, I asked them about trueing and they said if they were not round,{they check after mounting} they send them back, and do not do shaving anymore.

I have had the wheels ballanced ,and truing solved the out of round and did away with any vibration. My motorhome has steel wheels and truing is worth the money to have it silky smooth.I mean smooth.

I went to a large truck tire store and they trued up my front tires BUT you should have them break down the tire first and and have them reseat the tire to the rim and then true them up.

If you have a out of round tire/wheel, break it down turn it 180 degrees on the rim to see if it improves or not. Sometimes if the tire and rim high spots get lined up it makes the out of round much worse.

Les Schwab in Rancho Cordova, CA said they have trouble with GY G670s, but none with Michelin tires.

They agreed to mount my 6 tires, then spin them to be sure they are not out of round.

Les Schwab also agreed that my tires would NOT be over six months old.

Good luck in your search.

OK, I guess I would buy a straight rim thinking it had been road damaged, turning makes some sense, but it should take some weight to balance, one would think...
