I am just about fed up with our present service. Have Iowatelecom.net and DSL for internet service. Don't really recall the speed but it's fast enough that I am satisfied with the speed - just numerous other issues that have grown into a desire to shed these folks.

My question - have been thinking of going with the Hughes satellite internet plan ---- pro. Speed is similar to what I currently have and price is slightly less (by $2).

However, if I have that system installed on my home, the ony other question is this: Is the equipment I will obtain compatable with the "Mobile" dish that I will buy and install on my motorhome later this year????

I desire to have just one account, and when I take off in the motorhome I wish to just unplug the receiver and take it out to the motorhome and plug it in and use it while I am traveling.....

So - anyone know the compatability?

God Bless

Bill

verizon is faster and could suit you better since all you lug around is a usb modem. No need to point an antenna.

Thank you RVUSA, however my internet needs are much more speed than I can get from my Verizon phone.

Plus - the delay has caused me to think better now.

I am going to pick up a system to install on my coach and that will work just fine. You see, when I am home and my coach is parked I always keep it plugged in and operating in some low level mode. I will just power the dish up and will have a WiFi unit in the coach and the house is only 50 feet or so away. I can pick up the WiFi just fine and totally eliminate the need for dish or phone lines in my home.

God Bless

Hughes has two different systems. If yours is a "KU" band, it's portable

IF it's a KA band, it's not, The KU modem is a 7000 (May have an "S" after it)

Don't know much about the KA band.. http://www.datastormusers.com for the very best information on this subject

As far as speed goes - if you are in a Verizon broadband area the speed will be as fast or faster than the satellite speed.

Most of us today that use cell service access to the internet use an aircard rather a tethered phone.
