Just got back from Ocean Lakes in SC. Had a good time. My significant other couldn't go so it was just my 14 & 15 yr old and myself. Had a leak under the kitchen sink at a fitting. If significant other was with me he could have easily fixed it but I had to give in and call for the on-site repair service for that one - oh well!!!

These three things below may be obvious to someone but I was a little confused since they have not happened before with this MH.

1. Slide wouldn't go out or in on shore power at site. I had to start the chassis to move the slide. My 15 yr old daughter got me out of this one. I panicked when it wouldn't move and she (who knows virtually nothing about RV's) suggested I start the MH and move it that way - like I do at home - as she sat reading her Seventeen magazine with her feet up. and it worked. I guess I would have thought about that myself after my panic subsided and I was thinking logically but....

2. My fridge wouldn't work on power at the site when the surge protector was used - it was switching from auto over to gas then the check light would come on since I hadn't yet had the propane on. Once I removed the surge protector it worked fine.

3. We ran the generator while driving from NY to SC about halfway down to start the fridge getting cold. That worked fine. Then on the way back I tried to do the same and after about 15 mins to a 1/2 hour the check light came on the fridge. Edit - Forgot to say - yes the generator was definitely running - the kids were playing video games on the TV which was working.

Any thoughts on these issues? Thanks in advance.

Take care, Beth

1. If all of your batteries were charged the slide should have worked. Have your SO check this out.
2. I would suspect a faulty surge protector.
3. Did the generator shut down? For the generator to run you must have about a half full tank of gas.

Poor power might have the surge protector keeping the power off.
Try it again with known good power.

Hope your children were seat belted while you were driving.

Yes absolutely my children were seat belted!! The TV and video game set up was plugged in at the dinette which is where they were belted and playing. My 15 yr old daughter has always been way too much of a worrier to have her or her brother not belted in. She goes overboard with it a lot of the time and is too cautious with things which doesn't make my son happy. He says she is worse than I am. It causes tension between them but it has always helped me out by having a second set of eyes especially when they were younger.

Thanks for the suggestions. My SO checked the house batteries and water level before I left and I know they work at least a little bit (enough to run the really small stuff) but I'll have to have him look at them closer before the next trip. I'm anxious to see what happens when we are plugged into another campground. The surge protector lights indicated everything was ok but I suppose it could be faulty. Thanks again!!
