I have a 25' Komfort trailer which is about 6500 lbs loaded. I need to replace the 10 year old Goodyears, which are 205/75R15 Load Range C. I have heard good things about the Maxxis tires and am thinking of going slightly bigger, 225/75R15, so I can move up to Load Range D. Does anyone see a problem with this? It is only a 1.2" change in diameter so as long as it still clears the fenders I should be good right?

Great idea as long as they clear each other and the sprins/frame and fender.

I think it is a great idea to go up in size and load rating if you have the room. In addition to the fenders, you also have to check the space between the front and rear tire, and the clearance between the inside of the tire and the trailer frame itself as the 225 is slightly wider as well as bigger in diameter. I think the bigger ones will probably fit, but you better check. My last set of tires were Maxxis, and I did not have any problems even though they were running close to maximum load.

Check the width of your rims. Our Rockwood has rims that are only 5" wide. The 5" wide rim is not recommended for a ST225/75R15 tire.

I replaced my St205/75R15 LR C tires with Denman ST205/75R15 LR D.

The Denmans seem to have as good a reputation as the Maxxis, so far I am happpy with them.

I replaced the 205 75R/15 Maxxis tires on our TT about a week ago and went with the larger 225 75R15 tire. Like previously posted just make sure you have enough clearance in the wheel well which you should. I DID NOT go with Maxxis...had 2 blowouts within a month on the 5 year old Maxxis tires that looked just fine prior to the blowouts. The Load Range D tires are a good idea. I noticed an instant change in handling when I changed to the larger tire.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I checked last night and the bigger tires will fit, there is a ton of room, not sure about the rim width though. I bought this trailer off a friend and this will be my 4th year in it. The tires have served me well and no I haven't really taken care of them, they've never been covered, they aren't inflated to max pressure. I could probably get another year out of them but I think I am pushing my luck and figured I might as well upgrade to a D rated tire since I'm replacing them anyway.
