My LP alarm will make a short beep noise as the battery is connected.

I tell you, were it not for the forum and y'all trying to help figure this out, I would have been more more worried than I am.

Having the knowledge base that is here (compared to say, my non knowledge base ) has made this process a little easier.

I will work on the batteries this weekend since I cancelled my camping trip. I may need to ask for some help and instruction as to which cables to take off because I remember the last time I tried it and nearly messed things up.

Anyway, thanks for hanging in there with me.

Keep at it. Too bad the P isn't working. It's a much better charger and equalizer than what you're using.

Thank you for trying your Honda generator. That essentially eliminates "Bad" AC power as the problem. That info should be relayed to Xantrex.

I assume that you purchased this unit from Xantrex and that there is a warranty. Before taking the trailer to a dealer, you should discuss with Xantrex any warranty implications or you could end up with the bill.

You listed "faults" that showed on the panel. The first two are not faults, but statements of the configuration settings: "Run without panel" allows the inverter to run even if the remote panel is not connected, and Auto Restart allows the inverter to attempt to restart 5 times after being shut down by an error (the other option is for it to require a manual restart).

I did not find Invert Charge Reset in the error list, but it may mean that it attempted to charge the batteries, but could not (without "Good" AC power).

The AC power light on the display only comes on when the inverter sees "Good" AC power (page 2-8 in the online manual).

Have you used the Diagnostic Mode to look at the faults that are stored (page 4-17 of the manual)? There is also a selection to show the AC Bad causes. Any faults listed may be useful in determining the problem.

I'm confident your electrician verified that the AC power was getting to the inverter, but I'll say that (from many posts and personal experience) the plugs and receptacles on extension cords and on the 15 amp to 30 amp adapters do go bad and can give some problems - a good voltage can show inside the RV with no AC loads, but disappears when something is turned on. You might have him double check that the voltage is getting to the inverter.

Well, gang, it is in the shop. I left the electrician two messages and he did not come out or call which is unusual. I think he is stumped.

I took it in this morning and they are going to call. I am anxious to hear from them and also to let all of you know what the problem is.

Hooray!! Problem solved. It was the cord to the trailer... a wire was not connected. Took them a half hour!!

I did ask the electrician about the cord and again after plugging it into the generator.

I am so relieved.

Don't call that electrician again Most suggestions were based upon him knowing how to check the basics.

I won't and I am really dreading getting his bill. I don't know if he will charge me for all time spent. Well, he did spend the time, and I would never not pay him but still.... I'm hoping for a compromise.

I wonder how electricians feel about that? Would they give someone a break if they didn't fix the problem, or would it be that, hey, they spent the time and should be paid accordingly...

when i run into something that stumps me, and i can't fix it, I do my best to give them a break on it, in some cases i won't ask for anything at all.

depends on whether they let me give up after a short time, or insist I keep trying.

Thanks, that helps. I told him I was going to take it to the shop, but he wanted one more shot at it he said. Poor guy, the reason he didn't call back was that he is in the hospital his wife said. (maybe kidney stuff)

Well, I told her that it was a simple thing and to let him know what it was.
