Is that the Deep Creek View Campground or Deep Creek North and South Waysides (Deep Creek State Recreation Area)?

I would suggest staying in Teklanika campground while in Denali. It is further in and you have to take water and everything in with you but it is a neat place to camp.
I see you are from Lubbock. I grew up about 2 hours east of there in Old Glory, Texas (10 miles from Aspermont).

It sounds as if you are taking almost the same route we are planning for this summer. We leave mid May. We are also staying a couple of days in Whitehorse. We have planned on about 2 weeks driving time from our home (Idaho). That will give us enough time to see the sights on the way up; stay for a couple of days in any one spot if we are tired of driving. A friend drove up several years ago and he suggested not driving much more than 300 miles per day since there will be plenty of stops to sightsee and stretch.
This is our first drive to Alaska. We are very excited about the trip. Maybe we will run into each other!
Oh, definitely get a copy of Alaska Highway. It is the best!
