If you arrive early, say several hours before check in time, do most parks let you pull over to an overflow area? I’ll be traveling to Sebastian Inlet in June and am not sure what time I’ll be arriving at the park. It may be around noon and check in is at 3:00pm. Would I be allowed to park somewhere until I can check in? Thanks.

Why don't you just call the park and ask them? I bet they have the correct answer to your question!

My experience has been..........if
the site is open, you are allowed
to set up on it...I have done this
at mid morning.....in one case
I plugged into a nearby site.......but, call
the individual parks and ask.

Never had a problem at any Florida State park, except Oscar Shearer SP near Sarasota. Not only would they not let us come in early but the rangers were extremely unpleasant. They have a rule to only allow you to stay 2 weeks, but they allow snowbirds to pull into the parking lot for one day and then right back to the same sight they left. Since no one wants to take a sight for one night, it keeps the locals out and the snowbirds have a site all winter. We never went back.

never had a problem getting in early,
though we're rarely early, usually
having to drive to the park after work.

You could probably find a place but I have found that when you arrive after noon, the site is usually vacant and they let you go ahead and park in the site

Some of the FSP's are very strict, others not. I have never been turned away if the site was already empty, but I have been held at check in when it was not. Call the park and ask.

We have camped at Sebastian Inlet several times and have arrived early. There is plenty of overflow room in the parking lot and the Rangers were fine with letting us park in that area...Usually the sites are already open unless you arrive really early. We'll be @ Sebastian Inlet June 11th for about 4-5 nights.. Nice parks, great beaches, fishing is also good. The stores are a bit of a ride so stock up before arriving.

Got to Ft. Clinch early one visit and the other folks were finishing packing. We just went over to the beach parking area and walked out on the pier until the folks left.

I have a habit of removing my watch when I go on vacation, so I don't get upset about time.

Every other FSP lets us in whenever we arrive.

I've gone right in when the site was empty, othertimes, I've had to wait ( usually in the day use area) until the site was vacated
