Well we decided to camp at a local lake campground run by the county.....for mothers day weekend...i hadnt been camping in a campground since i was a kid and the recent camping we do is in the desert boondocking...well we loved the lake and the trees and wildlife but i was shocked when people were playing their stereos so loud, walking thru campsites, dogs off leash and owners not picking up after them, barking dogs, loud screaming, kids running amok all over, tents in rv sites, good grief doesnt anyone go to camp and relax and take it easy??? Seems more people were partying then camping! One group had a loud PA system thank god the rangers shut them down......definately not the expierence i was telling the kids i had .....such a shame...
And some wonder why so many prefer WalMart to a CG. More relaxing and less stress in a commercial retail parking lot than a CG for sure. Plus in many locals now, the security is better in a parking lot than the off the beaten path CG's.

Yep, welcome to the real world! Unfortunately, that is the way of the world today. We have been camping for about five years now. We constantly see the problems you mentioned. We don't boondock so we have to just suck it up. Most of the time it isn't hard, but sometimes, you just want to scream!!!!

most county parks are like that, even state run ones can tend towards that on a busy weekend. The closer you are to suburbia the closer the experience will resemble it.

vigilante camping sounds interesting, tell us more about what you do.
Hooverman was that a Riverside or San Diego County park? I use the Laguna campground east of San Diego frequently and it is wonderful. Not noisy and beautiful.
But there are still some park rangers/park managers that keep a good handle on things!
Last year at one park where we the park ranger seemed to do an excellent job at enforcing things, my 4 year old son asked him what his job was, and I loved his answer...
"My job is to make sure that everyone here has a good time."
That sums it up very well!
However, we have definitely found that the level of enforcement varies from state to state. We don't camp in our home state.
