Hi everyone,

Here's a few of our photos from this last weekend at Hocking Hills, Ohio (Ohio TC rally May 8 & 9 2009. I am now a convert and willing to say in public that Ohio is not just a flat boring state I have to drive through to get to somewhere interesting. In fact I was blown away at the diversity of forest and rock cliffs that we wandered through.

We started out by sitting around and making a plan of where to go and what to see

Dasiy got around but seemed to like Kim's lap best

Here we're walking to one of the falls along the stream

Bruce, Tanaka & Kim

The hike out we took the less accessible trail, loved the views

Here's a group shot at the second falls

Than Kim, Tanaka & Bruce broke away from the group to do more exploring, heres what I thought was an interesting rock wall with vegitation

We came upon this incredible waterfall shown below, OK look close between Kim and Tanaka, yea you see it now, just below their knees. OK we take what we can get.

Who has any idea what this is called, I found it on the end of a cut tree trunk. It's very white and hairy like, I'm pretty sure it a fungus, but what?

A view from a cliff

A view of us on a cliff

Steps to the rock House

One last waterfall

Did anyone here know that the forest closes at dark? Does that mean all the animals go home for the night and return in the morning? Do the turn off the water to the falls?

On our way back to camp a large tree decided to fall and trap us on the wrong side, we waited a short while till a local brought his front end loader and pushed it out of the way.

When we got back it was time for dinner, everyone seemed to be quite hungry from the days activities.

Chusk & Pat cooked a couple of chickens

Tanaka helped with cooking some hotdogs

Everyone brought something and I didn't find anything I didn't like

in the evening we played some domino's and had the requisite campfire

To everyone that was there... Please feel free to add your photos to this thread, it is for everyone.

Thank you to everyone that came, we had another great weekend.

I second the "Great Pictures" Bruce, brings back old memories. Wife and I were talking about going there this summer. I have been there many times growing up in that area.

Outstanding pics. Photos always make a post more interesting and your post spoke volumes with very few words necessary.

I was raised in Ohio and always knew there were hidden treasures that many non-Buckeyes were missing out on. They're probably thinking the same thing as you once thought..."What could I possibly find interesting in Ohio?"

Your post will no doubt change a few perceptions.

Thanks!

It' a wonderful place to explore. I've been there a couple of times. The frozen waterfalls in winter are terrific.
