My dad had a Ford E-350 that had a partial blocked exhaust that acted near what you are describing. A baffle would move inside the muffler(we guess) and block the flow at highway speeds and would lose power but ran fine at idle or slower driving. We changed many parts till I dropped the exhaust and then it ran fine.

If you start to think its the fuel pump, go to Advance Auto. They have one by Holley, it is real similar to the one you have on your motorhome. It is an electric fuel pump. It is a high pressure fuel pump, and it comes with the regulator. It is real easy to change out. I changed out the fuel pump in a campground after breaking down. I did not change out the regulator because the fuel pump was my problem. The number on the box is 12-802-1. If I'm remembering right they are about $130.00. I have the same chassis and motor as you, wish I could tell you more.

OK, Everyone is going to think I'm nuts, but I had a similar problem on a 1988 Southwind on the John Deere chassis with a Ford 460. I had the carburetor rebuilt, and the first time I had it out it again backfired and ruined the power accelerator valve. Replaced that and it happened again. It turned out that my problem was inthe plate between the carb and the manifold. It has a connection for some rubber hose. The problem was that the plate was cracked and allowed air into the intake. I can't say that you have the same problem, but that's what I had.

Check the fuel pressure while engine is under load. You have fuel starvation. Fuel filters or fuel pump.

I've been fired up over all the advise given here. I sugested to the OP to bring it to a shop, but if he wants to continue to waste money on parts so be it. I will offer some help because that is all I'm trying to do. It is deffenetly not the fuel pump, a bad fuel pump will result in a lack of power not the simptons the OP lists, this is a carburated motor, fuel inj. motors have the fuel pumps in the tank, not carb. motors. It only needs about 5-6 lbs of fuel pressure to run anyway not 40 to 50lbs like an injected motor.. It is also not a bad coil, Motors of this vintage have only ONE coil and a bad coil will cause a "missfire" not popping back as the OP discribe. One of the reasons I get fired up is some of the advice comes from people who have no clue judging from their sugestions and will serve only to hurt not help the situation. Start with the carb. GET RID OF THE HOLLEY, very hard if not impossible to rebuild properly. Have it rebuilt be a carb. shop who specializes in Holleys, your problem is most likley the carb, but without the RV in front of me and able to run tests is just a good guess. From the symptoms the OP states his problem may be internal, the symptoms also describes a bad camshaft or valve train problem...

"Shot" is this a technical term ??? There is no fuel pump in the tank on a carb. motor....
