With a little boost a 4 year old can get in the MH through the drivers little slide window and unlock the door from the inside after you locked all your keys in the car.

Funny story, thank you for sharing. We have a Class C but if we got a Class A I would want a driver's door for just such an occasion.

I wish I had had a driver's door, believe me, but my DP and most others don't. And yes, as we learned, struggling through a window or an emergency exit can present some, ah, anatomical issues.

Having learned while in my youth that alcohol does have an effect on judgement, it was after 2 a.m. I broke off a door key in the lock, then realized it was the wrong key, holding a small flashlight in my mouth and a pin in each hand I was able to pick the broken key out of the lock.

There is a lesson here. We don't know what happened to the lock, but a lot of times the whole cylinder becomes loose and turns instead of retracting the bolt. So tommorow take a look at your door lock and your dead bolt, make sure they are straight and tighten the screws. Spray a little dry graphite on the dead bolts, work the key back and forth and if something doesn't feel right, fix it now. If you put it off until later, you could end up trying to climb in a side window if you can get it open. Many times we say to ourself, "that lock is not working quite right", "I'll have to fix it some day". Glad you got in OK and thanks for the story.

I guess I just learned one use for my driver's door that I can't normally crawl up into. I guess I could hide a compartment key in a magnetic box, and hide a door key in one compartment.

I kinda have done the same-the magnetic key box holds 2 keys, the cab key and the deadbolt key, both hidden in the back of the fridge.

Before you give someone a piece of your mind, be sure you can do with what you will have left.

It just dawned on me that my compartments and both doors are all keyed the same. sort of reminds me of the time that the electricity went out and I was trapped on an escalator for 2 hours.

That is sure too bad Bumpy.
Did they have any way to get you any food or waterwhile you were trapped on that escalator ?
I would have totally freaked. I am very claustrophobic.
That would have been a mighty long 2 hours.

Glad that you survived that terrible ordeal.

You got me remembering the time I locked myself out of the Hurricane while washing the darn thing in Vegas. Except I was impatient and tried getting the passenger window to slide open. Well, it shattered spraying glass all over my self. Expensive mistake for sure.
