I am close to purchasing one of those battery watering devices consisting of a manifold across each bank of cells, interconnected connected via plastic tubing to a refill squeeze bulb pump which connects to your distilled water jug.

Does anyone have experience with this system, and the installation procedure, useage, or anything else I might need to know.

I have two 6 volt golf cart batteries connected together to produce 12 volts for the coach.

Thanks for your input. This is a great forum!!!!

I considered one of the watering units. However, I found a neat plastic bottle that has a snout onto which a flexable plastic tube will fit. I just take the bottle and up end it with the tube in an open cell and squeeze for a squirt of water and fill up the cell this way. It easily reaches the back cells. You only have 6 cells total which would be real quick to fill. I leave water in the bottle all of the time and only have to fill it a couple of time each year. Hard to justify the clutter of the manifold system.

I have had it on my four 6 v batteries for a year and add water on a monthly basis. My batteries are hard to get to since I don't have a slide out tray, so for me it is great. As a side note my batteries have not produced any acid build up on the posts or cables like they use to do before I installed the system. Well worth the money. Try WWW.tweetysrvparts.com they are cheaper then CW.

I bought a battery watering container from Auto-zone for $11.00. It's black plastic and holds about a quart. Has a snout on the tip that when you insert it into the "water hole" and press down the water seeks it's own level and doesn't over flow the battery. No guessing! Takes about 2 minutes to water up 4 batteries.

With all the cables connecting 3 or 4 batteries, how do you find room to add one of the watering manifolds? I have three 12 volt coach batteries and just getting the caps off and reaching each cell with a turkey baster is a real ordeal. And I have to use a mirror to see the cells in the last battery in the tray, so a watering system would be very nice but I just can't see how one would fit in with all the cables running over the tops of the batteries.

Had to install them on my last rig as I couldn't see into the battery or pull it out. Every cell has it's own float so you can't overfill them. Worked great.

Have a similar one -- and it works great.

One of the best purchases I have ever made for our RV.
Our four six volters were a real PIA to check and fill with
distilled water.
Installation was straight forward, and the kit came with two different
manifolds, which fit different cell spacing for different batteries.
I did have to loosen and move upwards a couple of cables to do the
initial install, and afterwards, re-tighten the connections.
Been using this system for four years with excellent results.

I purchased a battery water thing from Coil n Wrap at an RV show. They also have a website. Use it on the two 12v batteries mounted under the step. Removing the step is easy, bending over and seeing into the back cells is difficult. Instillation was very simple, even for me. I then ran the fill, pump hose, to the adjacent storage compartment where I keep it looped with velco. Now, on about the first of each month I go out to the rig with a gallon bottle of distilled water, plop in the hose, squeeze the suction ball a few times, and my batteries are maintained with fluid. I use a gallon of water, but the batteries usually take only 30cc or so...still have the same gallon bottle for about a year. Personally I think it was a worthwhile purchase.
