I wired mine like garry1p but used 30amp outlet cause that is what all my cord are. I have an adapter if I need to use a 20 amp outlet. Mine does not trip the GFCIs.

Try running both AC units on low cool. Try to keep everything else turned off as much as possible. This works for my RV.
Then you don't have to dink with the wiring and stuff....if it works for you.

Ames wrote: If you don't have the energy management system, you can wire one AC to its own 10 ga. shore power cord and plug it into the 20 amp side of the shorepower along with the 30 amp plugged into its side of the shorepower.
If you do this be very sure there is a no fail disconnect from the generator breaker that powers the rear AC unit.
John it seems Ames has picked up you intent as I see it and has pointed you in the right direction. The How To will vary from RV to RV.
Our 30 amp based Pursuit had a three position switch under the foot of the bed. Up runs the front A/C, middle position is Off and down is for rear A/C unit.
Some simple way in our case would be to cut the 120v line that feeds the rear A/C unit under the bed and splice in a 15-20 amp male/female plug connector then feed in at least a 12 guage extension cord under the bed out to our electrical bay.
With the bed mounted switch up and the rear A/C supply being fed by a heavy extension cord to shore power the MH breaker box is by passed and the rear A/C is feed by a 15 or 20 amp power source that should be seperate from the circuit feeding the 30 amp RV outlet.
It is a simple job electrically IF access is not an issue but access is alway an issue working around an RV.

Ames wrote: If you have 30 amp service you do not have the capacity to run two AC units at the same time. If your shore power cord has three prongs (two flat and and one round) you have 30 amp and cannot run both. You can get a device to alternate between the two AC units.
Nonsense. Just not always true. I have run 2 airs at once on 30 amps for 10 years. Plus the fridge and TV. At the same time. In very hot weather. And this is done without my power management system cutting off any other circuits, except the hot water heater element if that stealth user happens to cut in. All rigs are a bit different in usage, being equipped differently, so what one user experiences may not always be what another user experiences.

The fans aren't the culprits, it's the compressors which both kick in under "low cool".

The fans must be just enough to keep it under the amp draw threshold. As soon as you move one to High Cool, it starts shedding.
This is with a Fleetwod climate control system. I am not sure how other brands handle 2 AC units with 30 amps.

Camping world sells a small box that you plug into a 30 & 20 amp service at the same time, this gives you 50 amps, You then plug your 50 amp cord which is connected to your 50 amp plug of your unit into this same box. You now have 50 amps, and you can run both air conditioners. your load indicator show 50 amps available and you operate as normal. I have been told that your 110v ground faults do not work using this system, I have never found out? It works for me. gps

the dual power, power solutions box, is a DIY, aux/dual shore cord input, exactly the same thing KIRK and I were describing,
using the word adapter is a BIT of an adv stretch. adapters connotes plug and play, the PSV unit has to be wired into the service/breaker panel to separate the 2nd AC circuit
Quote: For 30 amp RV, Breaks into the second circuit from generator, all wiring is already there in most cases
but yes it works, this is what we are talking about, using (2) shore cords
Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother
