Our first time out... So we head to ABC Campground, and wow are we ever excited! First night out, we are testing everything and having a wonderful time. But, I guess we forgot and left that big bright outdoor light on... And well, someone came along and painted the side of our new trailer with black spray paint, then they even shot out the light with a pellet gun. Oh' well, our fault obviously for being so rude and inconsiderate... We certainly deserved this. However, the severity of the punishment shocked me, I guess as newbies we just did not understand proper camping etiquette. So, don't worry folks, I will be buying my pellet gun and spray paint so I can be prepared for my next trip. Thank for the lesson in courtesy. Although, I am not sure if I should stop at Wal-Mart on my home, because I am not sure if that is considered Wallydocking or not, and I am still unclear as whether or not this is ok or not?
Anyhow...
On to day two and my Dear Son and his lovely new wife (DIL?) came out to visit... Since we have been prattling on about this for so long, they wanted to come out and have dinner with us. OOPS, another faux pas, as we did not realize that inviting family in to your camp was another one of the unwritten rules. See, my son brought his dog along as well, and in our excitement to go camping we forgot to pack the steaks. So, we all load up in the pick up for trip to town, and maybe a quick site see on the way... Since his puppy and our small doggy get a little destructive when they are left together, we felt tying him out in front of our trailer, in our site, during the day, was ok, and of course we left our little pooch inside the trailer. Well, this is where the trouble began - first, we screwed up and left his car in the site while we left with the pick up. Not realizing that this constitutes an extra vehicle, seems some fellow campers took note of our villany and called the Rangers... Who consenquently had our sons car towed. Now also, his puppy, which is very friendly, during this time had to do his dooty, which he did on the grass... Since we were not there to immediately scoop this up, some other neighbors of course called the Rangers - Of course in his puppy excitement he barked at the kids riding their bikes around the campground also(of course these kids all wore helmets, never left the bike path, and only rode slowly, making no noise). Now, poor puppy Jimbo had to be shot, since of course they were just not sure of his intentions, especially with his tail flapping like that, they just could not tell and of course we were gone for almost 2 hours... So proper etiquette demands retribution, obviously, we understand now. Of course, we did feel that the $500.00 ticket posted to the trailer was a little excessive, but hey... We just did not realize how incredibly rude we were being.
So, it is now day three... and we were asked to leave the park. Seems that we failed to head the rules with enough zeal. Apparently, my hearing aid batteries (see, I have ear damage from a roadside bomb going off when I was off fighting in Desert Storm I)... and I was talking a little too loud. Then of course, when we went to bed, it was after ten and we watched some television... Seems there are noise rules and electronic appliance rules, and our neighbors felt it was there duty to report us.

Wow, I just love camping and can't wait to go again... Only this time I will try to obey all the camping rules of etiquette.

Here is what I have learned so far, and feel to correct me if I am missing anything...

* Remember to request a copy of the park rules before you come to the park, commit them to memory and of course retain an attorney prior to every visit.
* Be sure to report anybody who strays from the rules, regardless of the reason, because as we know; RULES ARE RULES!
* Vigilante justice is a-ok, as long as you can prove that someones indiscretion is considered rude and a personal affront to you.
* Dogs are ok, only as long as you never leave them alone, they are muzzled, tied up inside your trailer and potty trained.
* NEVER NEVER invite anybody to visit your site, unless it has been preapproved with the campsite, you register them, they park at the nearest park-n-ride and you pick them up, and of course they have to leave before dark.
* Never ever, under any circumstances, make noises, turn on outside lights, watch television, listen to the radio, make coffee or in any way do anything that might ever so remotely disturb your neighbors from there vigilance of observing your every move... which leads to the next and probably the most important rule.
* Always, always watch your neighbors, including all those within several sites, with strict and rigid thoroughness, and be sure to report any violation of the rules, and/or utilize one of your special tools (the pellet gun, black paint and even physical violence) at your discretion. Remember, you are here to enjoy camping, not to be disturbed by inconsiderate, rude people!

So, thanks again for all the wonderful information many of you have posted on this site. I feel that my next trip is sure to be even more fun!

Happy Camper

P.S. - I have one other question. I am thinking of getting a generator, are there any special rules I need to be aware of??

Pretty cute. I remember when we were younger. and actually stayed up past 10pm.
With Kiddos and dogs and friends. I sure we weren't the greatest folks to be next to. Which is why I try and remember those days and be tolerent.

Kind of sad you go camping in the off season and by 8pm the cg looks like a graveyard with lights. Kind of nice to have the younger people around. JMHO

You would have had a better time in a Wally-world parking lot! Sorry for your bad experience! Hopefully every other trip will be a breeze compared with that one.

Well I'm not smiling and posting garbage that others waste their time reading it's nonsense is even ruder that what was in the OP and violates probably a bunch of forum rules for this site.
