We just bought our first TT last summer. Bought it used, on a site already. But I found out quickly enough that I need to access the roof often. I don't have an extension ladder there and it isn't practical to take one. I asked 2 different dealers about installing a ladder and got 2 different answers. One said no problem, can put a universal ladder on to any trailer. Another said that if it wasn't installed at the factory that it likely can't be done because of the need for extra supports in the walls, etc. Who am I to believe?
PS. Love all the forums and all the help you give us. Thanks.

You can try and contact the Mfg. of your TT with the model# and ser.# of your TT. Ask for a blueprint of the wall where the ladder supports should be. Most will be glad to help. If the ladder supports are not there, then it would not be a good idea to install a ladder. As an alternative, try THIS. Bought mine on eBay for $150

I've used it every time we've camped and at home to make sure that there's nothing on the slide before bringing it in. We park under a tree in my yard and have camped under trees on our two trips this year. It takes only seconds to look and adds safety for the seals etc.

We bought an '08 Cougar Xlite. It did not have a ladder. When we took it back for a few minor warranty issues I asked about the cost of adding a ladder. The service manager advised that he has called Keystone three times and has got the same answer all three times. And the fact of the matter as far as Keystone goes is that if it did not come with one from the factory then the support bracing needed for the ladder is NOT in the wall.
I also had a service tech at the same dealership tell me that they have put ladders on other units in the past, using the schematics supplied by the maufacturer and found that often the indicated bracing is not in the trailer or not in the place indicated on the diagrams.
It winds up with a repair and re-skin of the trailer.
I advise you to do like we did and buy a telescoping ladder.

I would also go with the telescoping ladder. You probably end up paying about the same after the install costs of a direct mount and you have the versatility of being able to move the ladder around and be able to use the ladder at home. I bought one a few years ago and found it to be very useful.
