I am looking for effective methods of cleaning the mildew off the awning. Please post your best proven method.

just did it last night and do it 2-3 times a year...

1/4 cup of bleach in a 2 qt spray bottle, top off with water...

I do the top of the awning first.. spray along the top edge and work my way across then down... use a long handled brush to spread it around...

then come back about a minute or two later and hose it off thoroughly...

then do the underside, same process...

Bryan

PS when you are done, rinse the spray bottle and specifically the sprayer mechanism well... over time the bleach is hard on the pump....

The commercial awning cleaner they sell at wally world has worked well for me in the past. I used to use bleach and laundry detergent on the old pop up of ours before I tried the commercial stuff when I got my tt. I didn't see any ill effect on the pup but I'm sure the commercial awning cleaner isn't as harsh on the material. I also scrub the problem areas with a brush with an extention handle so I'm not directly under the awning getting a bath myself.

I do the same but I roll the awning up and let it sit a bit then unroll and rinse.

Simple green, a splash of bleach, water. I usually mix it up by the gallon. Put it in a garden sprayer, open awning, spray awning with solution, roll up awning, wash entire camper with Simple Green and water only, unroll awning, hose down completely, dry, and protect with 303. No scrubbing, no problems. The awning looks like new when finished. I keep the leftover solution in a gallon milk jug for later use.

All purpose cleaner that contains bleach. spray it on and use a clean, new sponge mop to scrub then rinse. Awning looks like new and no ladder required.

Just did it last night..... I used Tilex Mold and mildew Spray. Humped the whole bottle in a bucket and used my Long Handle brush (the kind you wash the camper with) Dipped the brush in the bucket and just lightly scrubbed the top of the awning. Ditto for the underside. Came back to the top and within a few minuites you can tell the spots you missed, hit them again.

Then rinsed with a sprayer. Let the awning dry before rolling up or you could reintroduce mildew.

I thought of spraying tilex on and rolling up the awning and leaving it but I'm afraid the harsh chemicals might break down the awning material if left on it for a longer period of time.

If you have a Carefree awning, read the label on the underside of the awning. It states not to use mold and mildew removing products as they could cause damage to the colors in the awning. It may also void the warranty. That's why I went to the bleach & water method.

Has anybody tried JoMax? I was thinking of using it but reading the post above gives me doubts.
