I would have brought he coach up to ramming speed and put her out in the bushes. Just think how good that would have felt for a few minutes
The brother of our camping friends was driving on an L.A. freeway years ago with a Chevy Suburban with a large push bar on the front end. He ended up behind a couple of idiots in a pile of junk on the freeway that wanted to play bumper tag. Finally, he sped up and rammed them. It crunched the rear of their car and did some minor damage to his front end. He just kept going and nothing ever became of it. He said it was the most satisfying feeling he ever had.

How the heck did you manage to keep track of all that was going on inside her car while driving the motorhome?
As most of us who know there is a perception among the general motoring public that we can't keep up with traffic so they need to get around us come heck or high water, regardless of whether they cause a dangerous situation or not.
Anyway, when we encounter idiots like that I usually slow down and let them be on their way. If I was to call 911 every time I saw a moron driver I wouldn't be doing much else.

Don't know, but if I hit WOT, that car would have been miles behind me.
But what could you do differently, hmm, maybe a brush guard on the front end and ignore the fact she hit the brakes.
I drive through downtown Chicago in the motorhome, but never get treated that badly.

There is nothing compassionate about taking someone elses money and giving to the poor.

It was pretty easy. The cigarette was stuck out the open driver's window after she lit it. I still have pretty good peripheral vision and, remember, I was just behind her. I had a good cushion between me and the car in front of me as she came along side so I could keep watching her every few seconds. It takes a split second to see that she is pretty much driving with her elbows while she is holding the cell phone up at the top of the wheel. I recognized the "thumb texting" position right away - I get to see it alot these days.
The ones that do it always hold the cellphone at the top of the wheel so they can see the screen and still have some chance (remote) of looking in front of them.
WOT in my coach (5 speed) doing 65mph takes a few minutes to do anything. Downshifting isn't an option.
IF you follow my description, she was never on the driver's side of my vehicle. Our windshield has great visibility into any vehicle to the passenger side and slightly in front of us.
You should never use your air horn unless it is an emergency, never to just get some ones attention on the open roadway The air horn is for driving emergences only. Everyone around your RV will go into a panic, losing control, stopping on the road or running off the road. You create more problems when you take other drivers attention off what they are doing at that moment. All of you were in the right lane which was good. You should try and stay out of the inside lane at all cost or fast lane as some call it. Moving over was a good idea to the center lane to let other vehicle(s) into your lane. When a police or emergency vehicle is on the right side you should always move over giving them one clear lane between you and them when passing. How much would you think a officer walking up to a stopped vehicle would enjoy your hello Air horn as you pass by him. Staying in your lane and dropping your speed to let other vehicle enter the roadway is a good idea. A horn is to get the other drivers attention, why? An Air horn will do more then a horn. why? What is an emergency you ask? No brakes when going down a hill in a run away RV. A ship will sound five short blast on the horn when they are heading towards something they are about to hit. When should you use your Air Horn in a fog where a accident has happened to get other drivers attention stopped traffic. When should you use your air horn in heavy traffic? never. Most horns are used in traffic during a light changes and the other driver has lost attention in front. When we drive we are mostly looking forward. But when we are entering a highway we are looking in three directions front, back and to the side. Using a little EMPTY here may help understand them going nuts. How would you of felt if you were them, what if you had only used your horn. As for the women driver she should not have been using her phone, but they do and two wrongs don't make it right. I always try to look at driving in 5 levels. The first level no traffic back road slow speed. level 2, traffic with no entering roads. Level 3 in town driving your head should be moving and checking the roads and parked vehicles for anything. Level 4 highway driving plan and simple. level 5, bumper to bumper traffic, over a hill with stopped traffic, accidents, roadside emergencies. Using an Air Horn at any level makes it a level 5. Air Horns for road emergencies only and a horn to get attention. This is my option on using the air horn and horn as for replying here is a link to the National Drivers Test at: National Drivers Test
If you score a 100% the first time, then you can respond to what I have written, fair?
THIS is why my bus will have train horns before my next trip. Sometimes, you need to get someone's attention REALLY LOUDLY!

...I'm certainly not suggesting that it is the righteous thing to do; however, I believe it is the most intelligent thing to do: I always yield to angry drivers. It's the best way to keep my cool, and it's the easiest way to avoid conflict. The air-horn was plenty to let the other driver know that you were there.
