Brought home our TT yesterday only to discover a couple of items missing for our storage bay. Nothing of great value (Bal Deluxe Wheel Chock, Coaxial Cable...)Doors were all secure which leads me to believe some one went to the trouble of helping themselves and then locking up after they were done. Seems odd. The storage yard is very isolated but not a fenced in area. Which leads me to my question, just how many duplicate keys are there out there? Hundreds, thousands?? Enough to change them I guess. Annoying yes but not enough to keep us from enjoying the camping season ahead!! Just had to vent.

****Just a further note to this thread....did the 08 Jayco's have a remote for the radio? Can't seem to find it or remember!! I know.......a true sign of getting older. I'm ok with it but its driving my son nuts!! LOL LOl!!

Thanks!!

I had to order a new door handle on our MH. I got the new one from Winnebago and it only included one set of keys, all for the dead bolt. The Winnebago uses two keys on the door, one for the dead bolt and the other for the door and all storage compartments. They did not have to send me a key for the second lock, it turns out they only make one and use it on most of their rigs. Not much security except you have to trust other Winnebago owners. Don't tell the bad guys about this.

Our dealer told us that almost all the storage compartment keys are the same regardless of brand; ht 751 or something like that so practically everyone with an RV has a key to your storage compartment. He said not to put anything of significant value in there. I was planning to contact a locksmith to see if I could get a unique core and key put in.
Of course, anyone with a small crowbar would be into a locked compartment within seconds anyway so commonsense would dictate that you keep any true valuables elsewhere.

Our dealer told us most of the standard locks on all RV's are limited to a half dozen or so keys - this makes it easy for the dealers to access their inventory of new and used units. He said if we are worried about it, to change out the lock cylinders is not too expensive, and you could even buy the new lock cylinders and install them yourself ....

The storage compartment keys are all the same. We had a 2002 StarCraft HTT and kept the same storage compartment keys for our 2005 OutBack 23RS. They all work on all the TT's. Even had friends come over who have a Springdale TT and their keys fit our TT. It's a free for all. You just have to trust people will be honest for the most part. Word of advice, don't keep anything important in those compartments, such as anti-sway bars, WD bars, etc.

Would say 95% of all travel trailers use key # CH751 for all storage bay.

Go to a local lock smith and have them install the tubular ace locks. You can also order them from Camping World.

My Friends Innsbrook 2003 TT keys to his storage compartments open my Flagstaff 2008 storage compartments. Guess is that you have to change all the locks with new cores not related to the industry.
