I just want to bring attention to the following regarding the nomination process:

The date of the annual B-rally has traditionally been the last weekend in May that does not include Mother's Day or Memorial Day. This is not a requirement, but the proposed date should be part of a nominated site's proposal.

It looks like we're going to have at least 3 sites from which to choose.

I am excited to nominate the "Villages at Turning Stone" in Central New York (Verona). Verona is 1/2 hour east of Syracuse, NY. Rally date - May 21-23 (the weekend before Memorial Day). This campground has many distinctions but the Oneida Indians have designed "The Villages" to be a blend of history, culture and two and a half miles of nature trails with more than 40 varieties of wildlife.

Cost - $32-35/night

Available for B7 Rally:
*175 paved sites - 50 sites near the outdoor pavilion (to be reserved for us) *Indoor meeting room with seating for 80+ for meals *Full hookups, fire pit, picnic table *Free WIFI *Cell Phone Service *2.5 miles of Nature Trails *Laundromat *Convenience Store * Paddle Boats and Fishing *Outdoor Pavilion with fire pit and stage *Volleyball and Horseshoes *Firewood *Pets are welcome

Also available:
*Free shuttle service to Turning Stone Casino (five restaurants and live shows) *Bike trails *3 Championship Golf Courses (very expensive) *A 9-Hole Executive Golf Course (reasonable fee)

Nearby Attractions:
*Oneida Lake *Sylvan Beach (Amusement Park) *Oneida (Silver) Limited Factory Store *Erie Canal Village *Fort Stanwix *Vernon Downs Racetrack

Thank you for considering "Villages @ Turning Stone" for the B-7 Rally

Thanks to Bruce and Teresa for the first site nomination. It has been added to b-rally.org (click on Site Nomination button on left).

Do we need to know what meals and activities (if any) are being offered with each site nomination at this point, and whether or not there will be a rally fee?

Who's in charge here...or is it anarchy?

Bruce and Teresa, that looks like a great RV park to have a rally. Nice nomination and thanks for stepping up so quickly.

Lynne,

I think it is too hard to say just exactly what is going to be provided unless all of those decisions are based on left over money from the former rally. In other words: it is not known what new sponsor money will be available until they are solicited for the next rally. I think the "intentions" of the rally organizer could be expressed, but until the actual site is selected and the sponsor money is committed, it is just a budget and proposal.

I'd like to see a preliminary plan for meals and activities posted, and I agree it would simply be the "intentions" of the organizers. There were a bunch of people that told us they would much rather pay a higher fee then to bring food across the country for a three day event, and I think that knowing the intentions of the organizers would help at least some members in making decisions.

As far as a budget goes, a minimal Rally fee similar to B-6 along with the left over funds would cover catered meals for the weekend based on around 80 people and other activities or events could be planned later depending on sponsor commitments.

This might be a good time to hear eveyone's thoughts regarding food at the rallies. (I'm already getting hungry)

Regarding food......how about a brunch on Sat. rather than breakfast and lunch. Have the brunch at about 10 and then the main meal at 5 or 6.
That would help to keep the cost down and allow us a little more sleep time.

Well, no one is in charge so I guess it is anarchy. Or maybe structured anarchy.

My opinion is that the main things in a nomination are site, date, what the site offers in terms of amenities, attractions nearby, etc. To expect those that nominate sites to go into much detail regarding program/meals before the vote would tend to stifle nominations.

To quote from the process description: "After the next B-rally site has been chosen by a vote on the RV.net CVC forum, the member that nominated the chosen site becomes the primary organizer of the next year's CVC B-rally and shall be the decision maker for all organizing details."

This has worked fine for the recent rallys. So I think the sponsor should give their inclinations as to the kind of rally they would organize but not go into specifics about program or meals. Does that make any sense??
