Yeah I drive a Unimog and a Peterbilt! As many times as I have visited, fished & hunted in Thompson all the way into November - I never plugged in. Cruisers is the one full o'beans. Snow doesn't last long in Thompson - usually gone in a few days and if you have Optima batteries you won't have a re-start problem. All those years I drove logging trucks - 99% didn't have plugins or adaptors and they weren't turboed either.

Btw - it get really cold on top of the Sierra Madre in Guatemala and no we don't plug in.

I looked up the history for Thompson Airport last Oct 13-31. The low temp was 10F and the high was 51F for the period. And, 1-5 inches of snow. And, Churchill was 14 to 48F

http://polarbearalley.com/ has more information than you could possibly obtain. If you're really concerned you could leave the rig in Winnipeg and take the train up and fly back.

I've stayed at the Aurora and it was a nice place. When I lived there the hotel was apartments therefore the rooms are quite spacious. Of course I haven't stayed they in 13 years.
