Congrats to you and him. Tell him the Morris family of KY/IN say we appreciate him. I remember basic very well. He says it is slow now. When it kicks in he will be writting letters at night with a flash light. May the service turn out to be all he wants it to be.

Hey, Julie. SO glad Aaron wrote such a great lengthy letter to you. I imagine things haven't changed much since my son did basic and soon Aaron will not have much time nor stremgth after all the PT to write as much. Please let Aaron know we are ALL waiting to hear his news, I wish him well and thank him for serving his country. His Momma should be very proud!!
I know you have had lots of life changes recently and hope you are all doing well. Great to hear from you about Aaron.

Oh, but the fun begins when the real basic training begins.. But he sounds like he'll make it with "flying colors". A new era for Aaron. You should be very proud of him, Julie.

Thank you all so much! I've been on Cloud 9 since getting his letter, but it gets even better . . . HE CALLED TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually got to finally talk to him! Unfortunately, Greg wasn't home at the time. Aaron only had five minutes, so we didn't have long. My mom was here at the time, and she started to talk to him, but got so emotional and started crying that she couldn't even talk to him. It was enough for her to hear his voice, and he's such a great kid, he totally understands. Mom felt bad that she couldn't talk to him more, but that will come in time.
Green Salsa -- his MOS is Combat Engineer. When his recruiter asked why, he said "because I like to blow things up." His recruiter laughed and said "I thought so."
I'm anxious to hear about the extra "tests" he is going to take, based on his ASVAB score. According to his recruiter, he has one of the highest ASVAB scores he's ever seen. That's not surprising, though. Aaron's a very smart kid. He could have easily gotten straight A's in high school, but he was bored, and it was easier for him to "skate" by. Now he's excited about what he's doing, so I'm sure will really apply himself.
I will be sure to pass on everyone's comments. In fact, I think I may print this thread out and send it to him. He told me today that he sent another letter on Thursday with his address. I should have that one tomorrow, so I have to get my letter to him going. I'm sure he'll be touched that everyone is thinking of him and thanking him for his service.
I'll be sure to update this thread with his letters as they come in. Again, thanks, everyone!
Peace,
Julie
