We can only use our TT 3 summer months of the year and then it is stored in an unelectrified barn about 30 miles away from home.
The problem we have happens when we bring it home to clean it and get ready to go. The AC fan will not turn and all we get is the hum of the motor trying to start. When this first happened a year ago, our dealer told us that the fan shaft rusts in place and that all that's needed is for me to rotate the fan to get it broke loose. This done, it runs like new. The dealer said there is no way to lubricate the shaft since it's a sealed unit..........
The questions I have are:
1. Are we the only ones this happens to?
2. Are there any solutions other than poking a stick in the vent holes to rotate the fan?
We of course could remove the AC cover but at this old age that ain't gonna happen.
Any solutions .. short of replacing the motor????? Thanks in advance for your help.

It sounds to me like it could be a bad starting capisator.

on our current TT it has always done this... happens when we first start it for the year...
I have to remove the cover so I can see the fan. turn on the fan, then use a stick to spin it to get it started. I let it run for several hours, then it is fine for the rest of the camping season...

Is it a Dometic AC unit?
There was a recent recall of blower motors with this problem.

A new motor will probably do the same thing.

Have had this problem before and some WD40 and a spin or 2 of the blade from the roof will send it running. NOTE...do not have it turned ON when you turn it. Spin it with power OFF. I doubt you need a new motor or anything more than this. Inactivity is the problem usually

Go to Radio Shack and get some "phonolube" it's use to grease old record players but is also used for motor shaft. I had the same problem you did and removed the cover, spun the blade, cleaned to dirt off around the housing by hand then by using the tube pushed grease around the shaft.
Worked for 3 more years and was still working when I traded it in.
I also use it to lube shafts on all types of motors.
CAUTION, do not use motor oil, some of the aditives will just gum up the motor shaft quickly.

Sealed unit that rusts in place? Oxymoron?
Either the seal is bad or you can lube it. JMHO
I would disassemble a bit and see if I could get a drop of oil on that shaft.

Sometimes I notice that the motor rotor gets rust on it and you get binding between the rotor and the stator. Removing the AC cover and turning the fan blade by hand knocks the rust loose and you are good to go. Sometimes, it is very rusty and you have the rock the fan blades back and forth gently.
