We do not build a campfire very often during our summer travels, however, last night the weather was perfect, very still and quiet. We are in a beautiful site that is heavily wooded, no other campers in the area that we can see from our site. We set a fan up on the picnic table to blow the bugs away. Set down in the comfortable chairs with some finger snacks and our favorite beverage and really enjoyed the fire. Sometimes life is just as good as it can get. No wonder so many of you enjoy it.

Wow Cisco, I think that was a totally negative remark. Couldn't you just say that you enjoy campfires also? They wouldn't have to make sure the fire was out.....you just rained on it.

When I worked at a seasonal campground, I always looked forward to the smell of the first campfire of the season......One time I was caught standing in front of a camp site just sniffing the air....lol!

Don't know which is better...Bacon cooking or the first campfire of the season.....Both make me smile!

Henceforth, we shall NOT tolerate ANY negative comments......

I'll simply say that different people PREFER different fires.

sorry didn't want to make it negitive ,just a reminder that smoke the bear is watchin and wanted him to enjoy it,and remember others want to use it too. If someone was careless then we all suffer and loose the opportunity to use it next time.Just wanted to be a good neighbor camper to him. plus i know the area and its nice place. LOL

I second that comment. I could voice my opinion of anyone reading negativity into this, but I have fulfilled my daily quota of thread closures.

Since we've moved into your new home, which is in the country by the way surrounded by corn and bean fields, we have a campfire ring and I put up block benches around it. I have a mountain of fire wood and we enjoy this "country living" a whole lot. Because we have so many fires at home now, actually,.... the last couple times we took the trailer out, we didn't have a camp fire at all! We really enjoy our new home and unlike living in town, have opportunity to have outdoor cooked over a real fire any time we want now!

GLAD YOU HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!

It never ceases to amaze me that when some one shares a really good camping experience with the rest of us that the babysitters (or camping police) come out of the wood work. Clean up the campsite, make sure your fire is dead out, and driving instructions etc etc. Give me a break. The OP didn't ask for advice or suggestions, simply was sharing a nice camping experience. He'll probably not share anything again with you uppity do-gooders.
