I am new to the forum so forgive me if this is redundant. Is it possible to pick up Dish Satellite from the Vera Cruz area? Can you get a large enough dish to pick up the service?

Don't know about Dish in Veracruz, but generally it is difficult to get it much beyond 150 mi;es into Mexico. However, we use StarChoice (Canadian service) and get TV everywhere in Mexico.

YES, we have picked up DishNetwork South of Mexico City easily. BUT, you will need a 48" dish. We have a Toyhauler so no problem carrying around a dish that large. As bilmo says, most Mexico RVers have StarChoice but most Mexico RVers are Canadian. If you do a search of this forum for StarChoice you will find contact info for people living in the States.

Bilmo is right on. Our Star Choice was still working south of Cancun. Just barely working, but we only had the small Star Choice dish. Our neighbors with a bigger Star Choice dish got all the channels.

Star Choice is now called Shaw Direct (Same Canadian company and owners, just a name change). They offer a 3/4 meter dish as an option for cottage owners that provides better reception, be sure to get the larger dish for Mexico.
We have a 3/4 meter Hughes satellite internet dish with an attachment for the dish called a "bird on a wire" (BOW) that allows the use of one dish to receive both internet and TV signals (you still need to subscribe to the two services), it worked well on the west coast of Mexico. We didn't receive all the high definition channels but all the SD channels came through.
The link to Shaw Direct is : http://www.starchoice.com/english/default.asp

We were able to receive both internet and TV signals on the one dish as far south as Acapulco. No HD channels at all and the internet was slow but that could have been due to our service with Telus.
