I saw this at the bottom of another link - and it made me sad :-(

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/69470.html

Basically, a disease/fungus is spreading through our bat populations, causing them to wake up from hibernating too early, and head out, where they starve to death or freeze....

They predict it could be nationwide in 5 years, and cause the extinction of several species of bats.

I like bats. Anyone who eats mosquitos is my friend.

That is so sad. Honey bees, frogs, what else is diminishing?

Yes --- I became aware of this about a year ago. I try to encourage bats to my back yard. I live in a mosquito area and they're great.

As the other poster mentioned, what next. No bees, no bats. The world really will be taken over by cockroaches.
