I'm getting a "bad response from server" error when trying to post some pictures on the forum. I'm using the procedure on page 1. So here's a try without a pic.

The text posted but still can't get a picture from Photobucket to post for last 2 nights. here goes again

Nope, still the error. I'm copying the direct link, opening the image tab, pasting the URL and putting the width at 640 and finish but get the error when I post it.
Is it you or me?

I assume you are deleting your attempts. Please leave them so that we can have a chance to figure out what is going on. Also, please tell us which portal (RV.Net, Woodall's, Trailer Life, etc.) you are using to enter the Open Roads Forum.

Here is a tutorial for posting from Photobucket.Com.

Thanks Tom. I am following your instructions from page 1 of this tread. I'm using RV.Net
Here goes again:
Nope, a blank page saying "Bad response from server". I have to delete the URL or I can't post at all. I use Hughesnet so maybe the problem is on my end. I'll check with them.
Thanks
Capt. John

The RV.Net server has been having issues for more than a week. Have you tried one of the other portals?

Also, if you would, paste just the direct link URL directly in a post. The picture won't post, but I will be able to see it. Also, if the post fails, it couldn't be Photobucket's server.

Photobucket is the worst... I see people post important informational photos there, good for a lifetime of information, only to get the red X after a few years.
OTOH if your information is only valuable for a few months, and that's all you have to contribute, feel free to use it...

If you are going to post the URL why not just add the IMG SRC html code?

Did you read the context for my post?

BTW, just adding the img tags might not be sufficient. It would depend on the size of the picture.

Yup I read your post, not sure what troubles rv.net having ... also I think the IMG SRC tag does not upload a photo to rv.net (only to the viewers computer) so why should the size of the photo matter?

Anyway I did try using the IMG SRC tag in another thread and nothing appeared --does rv.net ignore html in posts?

Will try Woodalls portal for posts in the future.... are there others?

I didn't ask if you read my post. The question was, "Did you read the context for my post?"

The Open Road Software does not generally allow html code. For pictures to be displayed, they must first be uploaded to a host site. See the tutorials in the FAQs at the top of this forum.

The size restrictions, which are currently under review, are out of deference to members who have slow connections and to prevent side-to-side scrolling. I am sure you will say that your screen is of such resolution that much larger pictures will not cause side scrolling. But that is not the case for all of our members, particular those with older eyes and a need for lower resolution.

There are Open Roads Forum portals through Trailer Life, Woodall's Motorhome Magazine, Good Sam's Club, Coast to Coast, and Trailer Life Directory.
