Thanks theres gas and oil in them, but who knows when last it was started, can i flood these? How do i know though since they dont start? dam if I was in the states i was just buy one for 299 but not the case up here as usual. Thanks for the tips.
The one that got hit by the truck has the front plug in panel bent and a few cracks, going to take the case off and see what everything looks like for wores and what might be broke. Would love to get it working, then take the pull start off it and try and get the other one working. Thats why it was return said" hard pull no start" you can feel something wrong in it , i sure hope i can fix , wish me luck guys and i might be back to ask questions!!
Well i got the one ran over working , priming bulb where the hose goes to it was broken, took the gen apart and cleaned it all out, runs so nice very happy.
The other one i strip the entire gen down to the engine. This one the stator or magnita not sure what its called has a burnt coil on it and i think it warped just slightly and prevents it from spinning smoothly when you pull start it. Not sure how much a new one is but i now have a awsome running one and complete parts incase anything happens to it, very happy! 200 bucks not bad considering if you can find them here there 550-700 in Canada.
The magnetic power in this is amazing when my buddy went to put the stator/magnetia close to the part where it sits in it nearly cut his finger off as it sucked it right in. Pulling the 2 pieces aparts are very hard.
Here are some pics of the engine tooken apart.
Sorry the pics arent that clean i must have been 10 beers into the generator by this time.
thats a burnt 'coil/winding' in the high-voltage high-freq 'alternator' that supplies the power to the inverter section.
from the pictures it appears there is chain from the pull start mechanism to the crankshaft, is that correct,
the crank case on mine appears to have a spot for an electric starter and there is an extra compartment in the plastic case in the front from the backside (like a battery compartment) does the start mechanism look like there is nay way to use an electric start? any gearing visible where a starter could be engaged ?
Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother ....

I saw someone else's pictures of this genny (in this thread I believe) which showed both a spot for the starter *and* battery. I think that the logistics of setting it up could be minimal with a little electrical knowledge and, of course, the actual starter.
I could be wrong but I would think the biggest issue would be finding a starter that fits unless it's some sort of "standard" size or something - not sure. The battery compartment that I saw in the pics looks like it would fit one of the easy to find standard sized gelcell batteries.
I'd sure be interested to know - I'd have mine wired up with remote start/stop in a heartbeat if someone can source a compatible starter.
in this post Honeywell NO plastic
is that a place for the starter with alu diamond plate blocking the opening, or is that a grill for a fan opening ? and the chain in the next picture is driving a fan ? the magna 2700 and the XG series both have electric start and all 3 brands look too have come out of the same factory, which is possible, its also possible that all 3 are being produced in different factorys and buying plastic cases from the same mould and engine casting from the same foundry
comparing those pictures, i think the pull start is conventional on the crankshaft, and the chain clearly visible in the picture below, runs from the bell socket where the starter installs, i wonder if the other side is already geared and the starter is a drop in operation except for adding the wiring,
I'm not sure those two pictures are corresponding - the top one (which was indeed the one I was thinking of) shows what appears to be a flat looking plate where the starter would bolt on with the bell housing behind it) but the bottom picture of the internals doesn't seem to show that same looking plate.
Could just be my perspective though.
Perhaps 83trekker (who posted the internals pics) could post some more photos of the starter mounting area? I think that there's lots of interest in this - I'm half tempted to take apart my own this week to look into the situation more.
well the bottom pic, is the inside of the crankcase, we are looking at the gear & chain that 'might' spin the crank for starting, there has to be a bearing and seal there, the plate is on the opposite side covering the bell opening the starter bolts into, ( that is IF my deductions are correct )
Sorry for replying late here but i think this model is based off something else and no there is no place on the engine for a starter to go, even though if you look at the bottom right drawer that pops off the generator there is a space for a battery. There is no fly wheel or anything acesible to attached a starter to. I think its just a engine case used for more than one generator. Ones with a starter and this one blocked off with no starter.

I will take more pics of this need some more batts for the camera. try tommorrow.
