I have a Duo-Therm in my Cougar. Do you have to buy a special RV thermostat to replace? or could I buy one of the digitals from Home Depot? The cheap factory stats don't know the difference between 50 and 90 degrees, lol.

Do a search for "Hunter Thermostats." You will find plenty of information on this subject. No, you don't need a special thermostat, but certain models are required. You need one that has it's own power supply (AA battery). I think I got mine at Wal-Mart or Home Depot.

Easy mod and the results are well worth the effort.

Follow this link and instructions...written by Les Adams the moderator on the travel trailer forum.

It's an easy swap that many of us have done and one you will be glad you did.

Agree with this post...... Wal-Mart sells the Hunter for under $25... very good instructions on the Hunter Thermostat thread...

consider getting a programmable digital. We sleep with the furnace off at night and have it set to turn on and warm up the fifth wheel in the morning before we get out of bed. It's a very nice feature to have.
