I would search far and wide before I installed another hunter. It works fine but I would really like another feature. It seems that it is not always as light in the area the stat is and at night I sometimes use a flashlight to check and set.

I would get a model that has an illuminated face that turns on when you touch a button.

Mine will be that way some day and the hunter will be in the sanitary land fill.

I have installed two of the Hunter model 44260, they have the indiglo display. We love them!

I installed a programmable Honeywell. It has a display that illuminates and also had three different coloured faceplates (black, grey or tan). It is a 5-1-1, which means we can program Mon-Fri, Sat, Sun all with unique settings. It also lets you program all 7 days at once, if your setting will be the same for all days.

The override function is handy too. This lets me temporarily adjust the temperature within a time setting (it has four different time settings: wake, leave, return, sleep). We're usually out of the fifth wheel by 9 a.m. so I have the temp set lower after 9 a.m. But sometimes we're lazy and still hanging around, and rather than reprogram it's nice to just be able to override the setting for that period.

Probably a dumb question, but our furnace/ac work off a remote control...could we install a Hunter for that?

thanks bhoth and Sue

I have copied your posts and will use that to shop for the replacement for the hunter that I now have installed.

We have one a/c. Our thermostat, which has a heat and cool setting, operates the a/c at one fan setting only, which isn't an issue for us since we rarely use a/c. Some folks install a separate switch to control the fan speed settings.

Don't remember specifics on the install ... we followed the numerous directions available on line and it all worked perfectly afterwards.

One of the best and easiest mods out there. I've done it twice.
