I used to make ice cream at home several times each summer.

My favorite recipe was always Irish Coffee.

Not for young children.

One of these days I am going to take the ice cream maker camping. maybe labor day for the family reunion.

Do you remember the recipe, sounds delicious! You would be the hit of the campground if you made ice cream!!!

I got it out of one of our ice cream recipe books. It is around the house somewhere. I'll have to dig it out for Labor Day and revisit it.

After reading this post, I found the KICA locally and purchased. I had seen good reviews before, and two more here. We tried the recipe the OP posted (with peaches), and it was so good and easy! I'm looking forward to trying more recipes and love the maker.

If you want to make some of the best ice cream around, here is my recipe:

1 Quart heavy cream
2 cups milk
1.5 Nestle Abuelita Mexican Hot Chocolate tablets
6 egg yolks

Put put the egg yolks, milk and cream into a sauce pan and mix well. Add the Abuelita tablets and heat on medium, stirring frequently until it reaches 180 degrees for a couple minutes. Remove from the heat, cool and then chill.

When I make it I freeze it with Liquid Nitrogen, since it's fun and also makes creamier ice cream due to smaller ice crystals, but you can freeze it with any normal ice cream freezer.

BTW, there is nothing missing from the recipe, you do not need to add any sugar, what is in the Abuelita tablets is plenty.

For those that like pumpkin pie: Follow the recipe for ice cream from the first post of this thread. Instead of 1 cup of pureed fruit, use 1 cup of pumpkin pie mix, freeze as per ice cream maker instructions. Tastes like frozen pumpkin pie, really good!

Enjoying it so far, we've made 2 batches already. Strawberry this time, YUUMMM. So much easier than the other makers I have, that need the ice and salt. Wash this, and back in the freezer for the next time. And today, my Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Book came in from Amazon. Lots of good stuff in there!

I made Heath Bar yesterday. Tomorrow I'm making banana walnut choc chip.

Go Dogs, we often use egg beaters in our lab ice cream recepies and it works well. Like wp6529 said, It's great to have access to liquid nitrogen, it's really smooth creamy and FAST!
