I am camping out at a friends farm this Thursday July 2. It is a get together among other campers. It is supposed to be more mild but I was wondering if anyone had any cold food ideas. I will be arriving late afternoon and departing before noon on Friday so a good dinner idea would be all I would need. I am thinking about just getting Subway Subs or something like that. Thanks,
Note: It will just be me and a lady friend. She is all for this idea. Thanks,

Subway's $5 Footlongs are a good deal as you suggest, or stop at the grocery store and get a chicken (or buy a bucket from the Colonel,) some deli salads, fruit, cookies - and paper plates Taco salad? Think picnic.

We carry several prepared meals and just heat them up; including pizza but my wife heats it in a fry pan sprayed with PAM on medium for a few minutes to get the bottom a little crusty. Don't overdo it.
We also carry a Geo Foreman grill. Much easier/faster than using charcoal, etc.

How about some wraps? You just need some flour tortillas and you can fill them with anything you like. Try chicken or tuna salad, steak, fried chicken pieces, fish pieces, etc. All of the fillings can be made before you leave and just assembled there.
Take some lettuce, onion, baby spinach, tomato etc to go with the meat.

A lady friend, eh? Then bring along her favorite bottle of vino, a little cheese, and a baguette to start with. If you do go with the Colonel, don't serve the chicken in the bucket! Get some other bowl or basket to serve it in....sometimes the presentation is half the fun... Enjoy the time out!
I like the wraps idea too....

I don't know if they have Publix grocery stores near you but their spicy fried chicken is really tasty, we used to take it along (cold) on boating day trips.

an antipasto platter and some wine?
On the platter: cold deli meats rolled up, cheeses, olives from the olive bar,
maybe some hummus and pita quarters, some seedless grapes, a baguette, maybe some herbed olive oil for dipping, you get the idea.
for dessert, maybe some chocolate dipped strawberries?
(Not sure if you wanted EASY or IMPRESSIVE. This is both, I think!)
oh yeah, pack a candle and some music! And bug spray!

How about a nice cool salad, with a sliced grilled chicken breast and some hard rolls. Easy to store and easy to do ahead.
